Vehicle Detail
2005 Suzuki Hayabusa One Owner --- Adult Owned --- Female Driven My wife and I are getting ready to build out first house so some of the toys have to go. We purchased this bike brand new in 2005, and since then have enjoyed many great times; but there are only so many hours in a week, and we just do not have the time to use the bike any longer. My father and I have always been interested in drag racing, and that was part of the reason for purchasing this bike. My wife and I would ride around town and such, but we wanted to give the racing a shot. So, as you can tell the bike is not stock. We have done all the work ourselves, from routine maintenance, to swapping the swing arm, to my wife wiring the shift light and shifter. We wanted to build the bike right, build it strong and build it reliable; and it was. But the drag racing atmosphere was different; it has drastically changed over the years. It is no longer a family atmosphere and neither my wife nor I wanted to spend a great deal of time. So we didn’t. Yes, the bike has been down the track; but I do not have any impressive time slips, or any great top end speeds to brag about. We built it, we tried it, and we were certainly not interested. The lack of interest in racing did not curve out enthusiasm in riding. We have countless memories and pictures of our trips around. I am a big guy(6’5” 225lbs) so the modifications we had done to the bike made it that much more enjoyable to ride with both of us on the road. We did change the gearing from stock, this made it much smoother when starting from a stoplight with both of us on. Also, the extended swing arm really made the bike less twitchy. It tracks like an arrow and still rolls through turns. We have made several trips down to the beach (Ocean City, MD) through the back roads of Delaware and lower Maryland. Once we trailered down and rode the Skyline Drive in Virginia - that was awesome; the overlooks are spectacular. And occasionally we’ll take an evening ride up into Pennsylvania. My wife learned to ride on this bike. Got her license and everything!!! That was really special for us; I would ride the bike and she’d follow in the car until we get out away from the traffic and into the country; then I would let her ride and I’d follow along. She really enjoyed it. But that is about where it stops. The last trip we took was in 2009. Yes, I still take it out to run to the post office, but I can count on one hand the times it’s been out in the last two years. The bike resides in a heated garage, under a cover. The battery tender keeps it ready to go whenever I have a second. Every week I take it out and run it, do a lap around the local development and back. With building a home this year; and along with our other hobbies and interests we just do not have the time to use the bike as we once did. Below I have listed the modifications and detailed information on the bike. · 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa · Mileage: 6987: Keep in mind that the gearing has been changed; therefore the mileage is actually a good deal lower, more like 5,000 miles as a result of the gearing change. · Zero Gravity Windscreen: Clear Double Bubble · Pro Grips: Installed August 2010 · Oil/Clutch Reservoir covers: Aluminum/Black · Stainless Steel Gauge Bezel · Raptor Shift Light: Red · PMR Kill Switch: Easy Mount Version · Aluminum Lowering Triple Tree · Manual Fan Switch: Red toggle switch in picture · Aluminum Fan: Muzzy · Pair valve Blockoffs: Aluminum · Airbox Modification: Small · Ram Air Seal Modification · BMC Street Air Filter · All Short Stacks in Airbox · Clutch Slave Support: Aluminum · Heavy Duty Clutch Springs · Billet Aluminum Pegs: Rider/Passenger · Billet Aluminum Short Kickstand · Billet Aluminum Mirror Blockoffs: Have stock mirrors as well. · Cycle Tek CO2 Shifter: cycle-tek.com · Reverse Shift Pattern: 1 Up 6 Down · EK ZZZ 530 Chain: About 1,500 road miles on it · Vortex Sprockets: (Front 17 tooth) (Rear 43 Tooth) 500 road miles on both · Cush Drive Damper: Red High Performance Damper (replaces factory rubber) · Extended Swingarm: Adjustable up to 10” over. Glass Blasted to match frame. · Bike sits at a 66” wheelbase · Aluminum undertail: like Tiger Tail · Integrated Taillight: Brake & Turn Signals · Power Commander III USB: Custom Map From Tuner Out of Philadelphia. Bike has NEVER been on a Dyno, this is a real world Map that provided a noticeable difference with the setup. · HMF Big Bird Exhaust: Carbon Can, really nice sound. · Tires: Rear – Shinko Stealth U-Soft, 200 width Front - Stock That about sums it up. The bike is really well built. It has been meticulously taken care of, always washed and waxed. Only got caught in a passing shower once with it. I have changed the oil every 1,000 miles; Always use WIX filters and Honda oil. I just changed the oil last month actually. The clutch looks good, I pull the clutch out every other oil change, replace the clutch case seal each time as well. Last summer I flushed the coolant and replaced that with new. I only use Shell V-Power fuels, while it is a bit pricey but all of my vehicles seem to run better with it. I have provided the description to the best of my ability. If there are any questions please let me know and I will be happy to find an answer for you. Please look through the pictures; these are not professional photos, I just took them myself the other night. The bike does look that good. Hopefully someone will have as much fun with it as we have.
