Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Fairlane GT S-Code 4-Speed Convertible If you only had one muscle car, this one has something to offer everybody. The car is basically stock looking on the outside and inside. However, under the hood we see a resto-mod flair with many upgrades to the standard 390 engine. These upgrades include a roller cam and rockers mounted to a set of Edelbrock Cobra Jet Aluminum Heads. A Holley Street Avenger carb sits on top of an Edelbrock Aluminum Intake Manifold. This package makes for a super strong running engine that we are not afraid to drive anywhere!!!!! For the purists out there (we are with you on this one), we have accumulated many of the parts necessary to put this engine back to its original S-Code condition. These parts (Carb, Heads, Throttle Linkage, and several misc parts) will be included in the sale. However, you are strongly encouraged to drive this car before making the decision to bring the engine back to stock. It does nothing but run STRONG!!!! Correct original Intake Manifold is not available. Also included with the sale is an AM/FM/CD stereo (in glove box) connected to a subwoofer with upgraded front and rear speakers. We prefer to listen to the engine, but this sound system, with its retractable antennae, makes some good noise by itself!!!! The tale of the VIN and door tag is detailed below: A real S-Code GT Engine S (390-CID 4V V8 GT 335HP) VIN 6H44S163100 Body 76D (500 GT convertible) Color P (Antique Bronze) Trim 86 (Black Vinyl Buckets with Console) Date 18D (built April 18, 1966) Axle D (3.25-1 Locking) Trans 5 (4-Speed Manual) DSO 15 (Newark) Plant H (Lorain, MI) Unfortunately there is no Marti report for 1966. However, an estimate from reports we have seen describing similar 1967 Fairlane GT cars, would indicate that this engine, trans, body style, and color combination is rare, maybe even in the 1 out of 100 produced. We have owned this car for over 5 years. It is time to let someone else enjoy and continue to improve this great classic. Prior to our ownership, the car underwent a restoration. We have very little detail, but have seen that floor pans were expertly repaired. The paint does have a few flaws and the bumpers could use a re-chrome. While under our ownership we have continued to improve the car. The dash pad, dash trim, hood inserts, trunk molding, grill, and taillights have been replaced with the best parts we could find. A Hurst Shifter was added when the original broke (oops). Last spring a new convertible top was installed and the entire top mechanism was rebuilt, making operation one of the smoothest we have ever seen for a car this old. We rate this car an 8 out of 10. Certainly some improvement could be accomplished, but this rare GT is very worthy just as it sits. We are available to answer questions or discuss the quality of the car. However, we encourage you to see it in person or have it inspected before bidding. Please feel free to contact Larry at 586-484-4246. A non-refundable cash deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of a successful bid. Full payment and car pick up within 2 weeks of the end of the auction. While we require local pick up, we will assist in any way possible to help with transportation arrangements. Thank you for looking at our car and Good Luck!!!!!!!!
