I custom ordered this 2009 Smart Passion coupe and waited six months for it to arrive, which it did exactly two years ago (2/28/09). It has been a joy to own, with impressive MPGs (30+ around town, 40+ highway) plus it is sporty fun to drive. Designed and built under Mercedes Benz, the Smart is the most affordable European car you buy new or used, and the only vehicle in its class if you have a desire for something this exceptionally easy to park. One night I pulled up to a theater in DC five minutes before show time. Some guys were talking in a tiny gap between two cars, and I motioned them to move. They did and I parked legally. “Sorry Dude, I never would have believed you could fit there!” one guy said. Meanwhile everyone in a bigger car just kept circling the block, preparing to park half a mile away. I have similar experiences all the time, and you can too. In addition to all the standard Smart Passion equipment, including ABS, traction control, power windows and mirrors, glass top, air conditioning, air bags and alloy wheels, I ordered my Smart with some options that have served me well and that I know the next owner will also enjoy: upgraded six-disc CD stereo, heated seats, retractable cargo area cover, fog lights, color-matched Smart floor mats, and dash-mounted tachometer and clock. The most important thing came about from my custom order, and which will always set this car apart from the herd, is its rich dark silver exterior with bright red interior. This classic combination turns heads and gets compliments all the time. It makes the Smart’s interior an even more fun place to be. This car has less than 16,000 miles, which is just 8,000 per year. It has been driven gently and garage kept at work and most of the time at home too. I am a car enthusiast who owns five other cars and treats them all like my babies. The only reason the Smart is for sale is a job change that make a four-seater better suit my daily needs. Since my new car is due in any day, this auction is starting more than $2,500 below this car’s private party Kelley Blue Book value! And with no reserve. I got a CarMax offer on it that is higher than the opening bid – so there is no way you can lose (plus for your peace of mind, the dealer inspected the vehicle and found no issues or problems). I have an extended platinum warranty good for another three years or 34,000 miles. This is NOT included in the sale but is available for $800, which is half what I paid. The reason I am not including it in the auction is that some buyers might not need it, and it can only be transferred with the buyer meeting me in person at the dealer in Alexandria to sign it over.
