1996 Camaro SS Hendrick Motorsports Prototype. This SS has many SLP options. This car has only 95k miles! This Camaro is a super rare classic. It is the ONLY 1996 Hendrick Motorsports SS ever made and was the basis for the rare 1997 SLP/HMS Camaros. The Camaro was purchased by SLP as a base Z28 for the purpose of up-fitting it with "SS" equipment and possibly non standard "SS" trim and utilizing the vehicle for Media, and Public Relations needs. The vehicle is not a Canadian production "SS" but has been up-fitted with production content in SLP's Troy, MI marketing and testing facility. During this period of time SLP was in discussions with Rick Hendrick to develop specialty vehicles to market and sell through the Hendrick dealerships having a motor sports theme. This Camaro was used to develop the theme for the Hendrick dealerships utilizing the black 30th Anniversary style stripes and other specific cosmetic options based off the "SS". In a 90 day period SLP produced approximately 60 of these V-8 silver Camaro SS's for sale through the Hendrick dealerships. This Camaro spent several weeks displayed in Hendrick Motor Sports museum located outside of Charlotte, North Carolina prior to being sold to Jacky Jones Pontiac. No MSRP label is available for this vehicle since is not a production "SS" It has the LT1 V-8 engine and a six speed manaul trans, power locks, tilt steering wheel, 4 wheel ABS, and dual airbags. with Bose audio option. It also has Composite cold air induction hood with over-sized airbox, SLP Loudmouth Exhaust, Hurst short throw shifter, Hendricks motorsports badges, and Hendricks floor mats. This is a very nice car and it would be hard to buy more performance or history for this price. This car has a clean car fax (available upon request). There are a few flaws, as you'd expect on a 15 year old car. The front bumper and black racing stripes have been repainted and it has C5 Z06 Rims instead of the Firehawks that came stock. It has a new clutch, new shocks, new brakes, fresh oil change with Mobil-1, good tires (Kuhmo 275-40R17 98W), just passed 2011 Nevada Smog test as well. The interior is in good shape, but has a small tear on the floor under the gas pedal (can't see it with floor mats in) and a few small stains. On Mar-28-11 at 01:02:05 PDT, seller added the following information: The car decided to throw a "P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow" error code this weekend. I will not have time to get this fixed before the end of the auction. It is not a big deal and doesn't effect how the car drives, could be just the gas cap wasn't on right. The car was just smogged this month and passed just fine. I just wanted to let bidders know.
