BIDDERS, see *** below NO RESERVE DELIVERY $500.00 Lower 48 States. Elsewhere at buyer’s expense. 912E Number 181 of 2099 Up for auction is a very rare opportunity to acquire a true classis History This car was purchased by the current owner, Steve, when it was only 18 months old. He has owned the car for the past 34 years. The original owner drove the car as a daily driver. He had about 27,000 miles on the car when Steve bought it. Steve only wanted the car for a week end driver. Something he could enjoy driving up and down the Southern California coast on sunny Sunday afternoons. Then he found out that driving a car on sunny afternoons without A/C is not such a great idea, so the car was only used on rare occasions. In the late 1990’s he decided to preserve the car, so he put the car in dry storage. It has not seen the Sun or Moon for the past 12 years. What we have done to the car when removed from storage is explained under “Update”. In the late 1970’s it was very common to order a special color on a Porsche 911’s and for a brief time, on 912’s. This car was originally silver. There was a color called “Beige-Grey Metallic”, later to be renamed, “Sandstone-Metallic” that was available through Porsche. Steve took the car to Vasek-Polak Porsche- Audi in Hermosa Beach, California when he first bought the car and had the Porsche dealer completely take the car apart and paint the car “Beige-Grey metallic” (Sandstone-Metallic). It was very expensive at that time but Steve wanted the most professional Porsche authorized paint job as possible. The paint today is still absolutely beautiful with the exception of a few small spots. The usual dime size bubble between the front fender and the hood that every 1976 Porsche 911 or 912 got because of the new galvanized body that year. A 2” crack in the paint just under the front leadlight. (See photos) and two or three very small rock chips on the front hood. Other than that, the paint is glossy and beautiful all around the car. Equipment No leaking Sunroof to come off its tracks and scratch the paint, or any cables in the roof to snap and jam a useless Sunroof. No Air Conditioning to over heat the air cooled engine. A Porsche 911 or 912 was never meant to run with A/C. All Porsche 911 and 912’s from their inception in 1965 through the late 1980’s never came from the factory with A/C. NONE. When a car was ordered with A/C, the unit was installed at the Port of Los Angeles. Condition This car is 36 years old. If you did not know about 912E’s and you saw this car, you would think it’s a late model Porsche. For a 36 years old car, it not only looks beautiful in and out, it drives beautifully. Its solid, quick, (maybe not so quick) responsive and really a fun car to drive. Dash is perfect, original, not capped. Mileage 68,012 miles on the Odometer. The original owner had problems with the Odometer during the first year. It stopped working for a while and the dealer repaired/Replaced it. Consequently, Steve will not verify that the miles are exact. However, the mechanics and the restoration people believe it’s about correct due to the condition of the car. Update Engine; From storage, no attempt was made to start the car. The car was brought to the legendary, Stuttgart Automotive Service located in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles. Work done; Fuel tank was drained and cleaned. Fuel injection was cleaned adjusted. Fuel injectors were removed and cleaned. All injector hoses and lines were replaced. All hoses, fuel lines, brake lines, oil lines, anything that was rubber was changed. All V belts were changed. All the brake rotors were removed and bead blasted. New Master brake cylinder. New brake fluid. New battery New heat and sound pad in engine compartment. Complete service. Lube, oil, filters, adjustments etc. Interior; Seats reupholstered. Steering column bushing replaced. Exterior; 4 New tires. (Not balanced) Front end alignment. New hood and deck lid shocks. New wiper blades. What needs to be done? *The two little plastic clips that hold up the (puffy) sun visors broke. *There is a small windshield wiper scratch on the passenger side of the windshield. It’s about 5 or 6 inches long. It does not obstruct the vision. *Heat Exchangers and a Muffler. I was not able to find a pair of Heat Exchangers for a 912E. I was told that 914 heat exchangers would work, but I’m not sure. (Heat exchangers are two canister things around the exhaust pipes at the rear, next to the Muffler. They hold heat and direct it to the interior of the car or to the outside of the car.) From sitting so long, the thin sheet metal Heat Exchangers have become rusty to the point that they will not heat the cars interior the way it should. The muffler is readily available but you would not normally change it without changing the heat exchangers. *Tire balancing. New tires but they were not balanced. At a high speed, 50 + MPH the steering wheel shakes and vibrates. *The bottom of the engine and transmission is greasy and oily but there are no leaks. I am told that this is normal. When Stuttgart Automotive Service was finished, they turned the key and the engine immediately came to life and purred like a kitten. (That needed a muzzle, as-in Muffler) The transmission and clutch work perfectly. Any viewing or mechanical inspection by you, your representative or mechanic is welcome at any time at my location only. A test drive is possible but very limited due to expired license registration and insurance. * Title and Registration. I have the California issued “Pink Slip” and last Registration in 1999. This is a California Blue plated car. When Steve put the car in storage, he stopped paying DMV fees in 1999 without filing a Non-Op through DMV. Consequently, the registration fees have accumulated over the years and the California penalties are now between $500 and $600 to register in California. I do not know about any other State. · The registration is the sole responsibility of the buyer. *** Only seasoned eBay bidders with a perfect score can Bid on this vehicle without a prior credit card, check, or cash deposit. Contact information and location. Contact; Stuart Tielens 909 239-6199 With questions, deposits, or for any information. Location; The car is located in the city of Walnut, Ca. Delivery; The car will be delivered by a bonded, insured exotic car transport company to your nearest Main Highway or area where a large auto transporter can travel on. It normally takes about a week for pick-up and a week for shipping. RARE; Want to know how rare this car is? Read the article in the Men’s Journal Magazine dated January, 2011. Search; “912E” BUY NOW YOU ASK? (And you will.) I don’t know. I’m thinking about 15, but that may change. Maybe tomorrow 14 or maybe 16. If you do want to make an offer and we make a deal for you to buy now, the car will remain on the auction until funds have been received. And if the auction goes higher before you have paid, you offer will be rejected and your money returned. Please, I am not trying to be arrogant. I’m only trying to weed out the people that want the car but just don’t have the money. Payment; naturally cash, or Personal check or Cashiers check (either checks drawn through Bank of America or Wells Fargo ONLY) Personal check takes 10 days to clear, Cashiers Check take 3 days. After that period you can pick up the car or I will arrange shipping. Final thought, This car is not for everyone. It’s for the Connoisseur, the Collector, someone with appreciation of rarity.
