Vehicle Detail
1975 Honda XL250 V.I.N. XL250-3013313 Engine # SL250SE-3013389 I have owned this bike for about 5 years. I bought it from a guy at work who had owned it since 1987. He had removed the lights and gauges and lost them, so I do not know the original mileage. I bought another XL for a donor for the lights and gauges. In the fall of 2009 I tore the bike down and rebuilt and powdercoated many parts. The bike has been ridden less than 300 miles since. It starts, runs and rides good. It is not a show piece, but it is a very presentable rider. Includes original owners manual. Engine: all castings have been powdercoated. All seals and gaskets are new. Most of the bolts in the engine are stainless allen heads. All parts in the engine were in very good condition. I put in new rings, but everything else checked out good. It still has the stock bore size. The left side cover has a scratch from dropping the bike in the grass. Drive: New o-ring chain, front sprocket and clutch. Suspension: New progressive rear shocks and springs in 2007. New fork seals in '09. Fork lowers have been powdercoated clear. They have a few nicks, but look pretty good. Wheels and Tires: Both wheels have some minor scuffs and scratches, but are straight and run true. Spokes are discolored but have very little rust. Front tire is a Kenda that was new in '09. Rear tire is a Cheng Shin that is in good cond, I don't know its age. Both tubes were new in '09. Body: Both fenders are in good original condition. No cracks, but some scuffs and scratches. The gas tank has good original paint. It has some scratches and the left side has a dent about 4 inches long under the honda logo. It also has a dent near the top left rear. The inside of the tank is about 90% clean with some light rust spots. The seat is in very good original condition. No rips or tears, but some rust on the pan and brackets. Exhaust: Head pipe and muffler have been powdercoated. The muffler has had a small patch welded in the bottom rear. It sounds good and has no rattles. Lights: Everything works, however, the signals don't allways flash. Headlight, taillight, and rear signals are originals. The front turn signals are reproductions with aluminum stalks. Controls: Handle bars are original. They are straight, but the chrome is rusty. Levers are new aftermarket. Lever boots are N.O.S. Both handle bar switches work good. The right one has a big scuff, and the left one is faded. New throttle, clutch and speedometer cables. Front and rear brake cables are original. Tach cable is broken. The tach worked good until the cable broke. Gauge faces are faded, and the speedometer lens is cracked. I have another speedometer that is in pretty good shape, but I have not installed it yet. New Renthal grips. Powdercoated parts: frame, swingarm, skid plate, foot pegs, kick stand, fork lowers, headlight bracket, taillight bracket, triple clamps, exhaust, battery box, and all engine castings I think that about covers it. If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer them. If you would like to see or test ride the bike prior to bidding, please email me or call 260-623-3221. Buyer is responsible for pick-up.
