Outstanding 1983 CJ5! Last year of the Jeep CJ5. This one has 66K original miles. I bought it about three years ago from its California second owner...first owner lived in Arizona. The body is absolutely free of any structural rust, and has only a few specks of superficial/surface rust. This CJ has been built to be a "beefy stock" Jeep capable of tough trails but still keeping its classy original appeal. Been to Moab one time, did Kane Creek, Hells Revenge, Cliff Hanger, and the front half of Pritchett. Touched one shackle one time and never had to work it to get over the biggest steps and obstacles. This thing has an absolutely amazing crawl ratio, flexes beautifully, and cruises smoothly with no drift or wander. No problem to drive this vehicle long distances - runs VERY well. You will be hard-pressed to find its equal...this is a great jeep with awesome classic style and appeal. I have invested over $16K in the last three years, including these upgrades: Rear end: Traclock, 1-pc axles and new brakes including drums Front end: New truetrac, ujoints, brakes, Warn 6-bolt hubs Motor: Original 6-cyl, new carb conv, new radiator, alum vlv cvr Transmission: NP-435 conversion, approx 2K miles, HD drivelines Transfer: Dana 300 with new LOMAX 4:1 gears, approx 2K miles Exterior: New soft/bikini tops, new windshield, detachable mudflaps Bumpers: Warn Rock Crawler bumpers Suspension: RockyRoad Old Man Emu YJ kit, new HD tierod, 1" body Tires/Whls: Custom backspaced whls widen track by 3". Other: New exhaust and brake master cyl, clutch, rear mainseal, oil pan, tuffy console, battery, and several other such items. The Bad (if you can call it bad): I am a no surprises guy. When I bought this vehicle on ebay 3 years ago, it came with surprises and I will do you the favor of disclosure that was not done for me. So here is the skinny: The vehicle is 30 years old and UNRESTORED. That means the paint and interior have some fading and interior components are a little worn, as should be expected with a vehicle of this age. The vehicle has a carb conversion and has lost some of its original plumbing. It will NOT pass California emissions, although it passes here in stringent Utah with minor carb adjustment every year. The spare tire went flat over the winter and I have not had it fixed. The volt meter also just died and I haven't gotten to it. Both minor repairs. One of the front fenders has been repaired, and it isn't the greatest job. The fender is straight, but some filler cracking is showing. The vehicle has a couple VERY MINOR oil drips.
