New Honda NOS PETCOCK. NEW BATTERY. New plugs including NGK plug CAPS Exhaust system w/install $1100+Valve, Carb job (with all intake rubbers, K&N and full Major Service (parts & Labor)+$1400 tires and installation+$500 Chain Sprockets and Install +$240 = $3200 (I started the auction price based only on what improvements were performed in the last 6 months and broke this out as an ADDED VALUE EXAMPLE to compare) I have owned this bike since about 9000 miles and have had the absolute pleasure of putting on about 7000 miles on this ICONIC BEAUTY. Honda really hit it out of the park on this design when they came out with the naked version in '79 to make a "look what I can do" statement. They were actually too heavy to be the intended sportbike, and at the time when I worked for a Honda dealership in central Wisconsin everybody was putting them away as "collector items" and we very rarely saw one come in with any appreciable milage. I was very pleased to see that Honda turned the later model into this touring model which seemed to fit it's personality more suitably. The detachable locking luggage "breifcases" actually hold more than what the scale appears because THIS IS A BIG MOTORCYCLE scaled to guys 5'10" plus. I use the bag inserts from my former Harley Touring bike and surprisingly they fit with a bit more room to spare! Also the riding position is deceptive by looking at the bike alone. This has a more upright position as you would find on a standard bike from the '70s with a slight rearward position on the pegs for long distance comfort which by the way is accentuated by the wider than normal and surprisingly accomidating seat for two-up for ADULT RIDERS. The air assist PRO-LINK (aluminum swingarm monoshock) system allows you to quickly adjust to any riding style or road condition. The rear has a 3 position valve for rebound and the front has air assist valved forks. VERY INNOVATIVE and LEADING EDGE TECHNOLOGY AT THE TIME FOR TOURING BIKES. There is a LOW AIR PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT should the shock pressure be inadequate for the conditions. This BIKE CHEWS UP MILES IN TOTAL COMFORT. The engine is a mechanical masterpiece with the DOHC shim in cup overhead 24 valves which makes this engine very quiet and the 6 cyl engine has an extremely pleasent exhaust note and flat torque curve. It pulls surprisingly low and builds in a linear fashion as far as you want to take the revs. More importantly there isn't a trace of vibration, which incidently is what BMW finally figured out when designing their new (yea right) 6 cyl touring bike... As I have found with any bike, but especially with the carbureted bikes of this era, the more you ride them the better they run, so I make a point of riding this at least 3 times a week, and have a cabin on the lake 215 miles north of here that I journey to for her leg stretching therapy every couple weeks. Taking into consideration similar bikes like this model for sale in these auctions, and all of the amenities offered I am letting this bike go relatively cheap because I have found a Vincent I would like to buy. but have to make a few sacrifices to do so. I have owned this bike for a couple years and finally set it up with the neccessary bits to make it "the best CBX available for someone who will actually ride it and use it as it was intended" There may be similar bikes being sold cheaper, but I don't think you will find a better one if you are going to actually use it for what it was intended. This being what it is, is and will be a collector motorcycle. You will always be able to enjoy it and get more than what you paid for it if you take care of it. I have a Professional Trucking Company I use for bike hauling. They are usually about half price of normal comparable Auto/Bike Haulers. Please contact me and I will pass on your info for a quote. There are a couple very shallow small dings in the tank where you almost cannot see without looking for them. There are a couple linear scratches on the right touring case as if it was done in a garage squeezing something past. Please ask any question pertaing to this particular motorcycle, but limit shooting the breeze about the model in general. I am very busy and would love to chat but don't have the time. If you want to buy it cheaper than what the listing or auction states; I'm sure there are many out there in various states of dissrepair that you can purchase, only to find after throwing a bunch of money at them to get them in working order you could save time and money on this low milage one...No Lowballers PLEASE! I would like to add that I am riding this bike daily so the miles reflected in the auction and the photos will change on a daily basis. I will be giving the bike an oil change service before delivery, and I also have this for sale locally and reserve the right to sell this to the first buyer with a reasonable offer and will discontinue the auction in such a case only when I have a deposit in hand.
