Vehicle Detail
1989 Canadian Built F350 SUPER DUTY 7.3 Diesel 159" Wheelbase 24 1/2ft. Deck (12 ft. level front section, plus 12 1/2 ft. connected section over service box, angled downward to back of box, plus 3 ft. tail section that folds down if not needed) 27 1/2 ft. overall deck, plus two aluminum loading ramps stowed in bed under floor. Front tires nearly new Toyos, rear tires matched high tread Cooper traction with good spare. Truck steers straight and true with no noticable shimmy vibration or shake at any speed, brakes stop truck straight and firm. Alternator recently replaced. Tail lights are new style LED. All clearance lights working. I believe this truck is ready to go anywhere. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL AND MECHANIC FRIENDS OPINIONS, AND MY EXPERIENCE DRIVING IT. INSPECTION IS INVITED AND YOU MAY COME AND TEST DRIVE IT AT 12255 SE 282ND. AVE. BORING (PORTLAND) OREGON, 97009 PHONE 503-663-131 AT MY WORK, BUSINESS HOURS WITH APPOINTMENT. TRUCK IS SOLD AS/IS. In short, this is a "SWEETHEART" of a truck, period. Last year I attended an out of state auction of an elderly car collector and bought way too much stuff! I had been looking at this truck during the sale and thought how perfect a unit for a car collector or race car enthusiast, but I needed another vehicle as much as another "hole in the head"!!! Well....I raised my hand and held my breath until the auctioneer yelled sold, and it has been one of the best bargains I have ever made! I put it to work immediately and it has never let me down. It can sit a month and start right up with barely a puff of smoke and clears out immediately settling down to a powerful purring. The non-turbo diesel has plenty of power and with the highway gears and 5 speed overdrive handles and rides like a Cadillac. The seat is real leather and it is very quiet inside and has a nice stereo. U-Haul must have put a lot of thought into designing these rigs. It has an electric start onboard air compressor with hose reel, locking tool boxes (very clean), 2 stowaway aluminum ramps to allow winching a vehicle from the ground or from a trailer onto the truck, 2 fold down attached ramps, and an electric winch front mounted on the rack. All work as they should. All clearance lights work, and it has a receiver hitch and wired for trailer towing. The truck has 2 fuel tanks, and the only fault I have found is that sometimes the fuel gage does not work in the dash, although the tanks switch as they should when switched over. The tires are top of the line excellent radials with matched traction tread in the rear and I believe they are oversize from original. The paint has a few small scratches and it has a very small dent just behind the drivers door, but is really not noticable. I have not noticed any rust or rustout anywhere. The dual batteries are heavy duty "Interstate", and the clutch, transmission and rearend are smooth and quiet. NOTE: My son noticed yesterday that He had to pump the clutch pedal twice to get it to slide into reverse easier??? I have never had a problem, and when I went out to try it, it worked fine. Maybe it may need adjusted? Also it has just a bit of a growl in 1st gear to me...although several other people that tried it out said they thought it was fine. To be completely honest, the only drawback to this unit is that it must be licensed as a truck, not a pickup, and several interested parties did not want to have to pay the higher license fees. More pictures at: http://picturehosting.com/gallery.php?u=show1969&g=uhaul-service-truck I realize that times are tough and I have decided to let it go with no reserve and just a low starting price that is not coming close to my original investment, but I just have no further use for it since I have been selling off my collection. Hopefully it will sell to someone who can use and enjoy it and give it the care it has been accustomed to in th past. IT HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED SINCE NEW! Thanks for looking. Please be serious if bidding, as at my age I have no time for spammers or "wannabees". It can be stored for a month or so if paid in full. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME LISTED DUE TO NO-SHOW NON-PAYING BIDDER. On Mar-10-11 at 16:13:53 PST, seller added the following information: Notice/update: This truck is listed as to body type on the Washington title as "carhauler" I have been using it as a "car hauler" for my several vintage autos and "hot rods" and it has worked very nicely for me. I just received an e-mail from a gentleman who works for u-haul who stated that these units were designed to be used as trailer haulers and that it may be a violation of DOT rules to use as a car hauler? Due to this e-mail, I am going to state that it is up to the buyers to determine it's suitability for their intended use and not guarantee or imply it's suitability for any intended use and am offering it as/is where/is. It is a very clean well running vehicle as I have mentioned below, and I feel that I needed to include this disclaimer. On Mar-11-11 at 15:08:37 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: THE CORRECT PHONE NUMBER IS 1-503-663-1531 THIS IS AT MY WORK FROM 10AM TO 5:30 PM PACIFIC TIME THANKS, CLYDEOn Mar-12-11 at 12:05:17 PST, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL INFO, MY REPLY TO A BIDDERS QUESTIONS: Thank you for the inquiry. The distance between the ramps on the section over the service box is 46 inches usuable from inside edge to inside edge. (95 INCHES BETWEEN OUTSIDE EDGES) The front section from front of service box to front bumper is full width heavy expanded metal (the front "flat/level" section). The stowaway aluminum ramps adjust from 46" to full width. The heavy expanded metal is the same type over the cab as used over the service box, while the stowaway ramps are solid aluminum. Outside width is 95 inches. I do not know how to answer your question of "if the truck would go 1,400 miles" A fellow spent over 3 hours looking every inch over 2 days ago and drove it over 20 miles on freeways and local country roads and afterwards told my Son that it was the best running Ford DIESEL 7.3 truck He had ever driven. so.... I drove it in from Seattle to Portland last Sunday (over 250 miles), had it running from about 3PM while I loaded it in freezing rain so I could get in the cab to warm my hands, left it running while stopping at rest stops to wait for sanding trucks, arrived in Portland at about 3 AM...OVER 12 HOURS WITHOUT TURNING IT OFF...never came out of overdrive on any hills along the way and I was fully loaded. A local diesel fleet mechanic looked it over yesterday and commented on how good it ran. A friends new Ford diesel has had over $6,000 worth of engine repairs and 2 bad transmissions in the time I have owned this truck and He finally dumped it. ...GO FIGURE....
