Vehicle Detail
1972 VW van, 1 owner, original title, keys, 94,ooo miles, Metzler spare tire, Blitz gas can.-Bought this bus from the original owners wife. He passed away and the last time it was driven was in 1999. He stopped driving it because it starting leaking some gas somewhere, I would assume a gas line. The he had passed away. I have the original Wyoming title, original owners manual, Metzler spare tire, never used and had been covered and I saw no cracks on it. Excellent bus, easy fix and detail is what it needs... EXTERIOR- Is straight with no rust. The only area I see on this bus that has a light indention is on the back right passenger side by the rear wheel. It looks like the original color was red and white and the door jambs are still red. I guess at one point he had it painted orange. This bus needs a major detail probably about a 8 hour day off cleaning and it will look excellent. I know how to detail cars and did it professionally years ago. If you can see through dirt grime etc.. you know what this bus can be very quickly. It needs pressure washed, buffed, and scrubbed on the inside. No signs off any wrecks in front, emblem is straight, inside front not pushed in, all trim is solid and straight. I have keys for all the doors and they are solid and shut great. If you lift up the Engine hatch the rubber seal is solid and looks great, just dirty. Even the the wire and the wiring cover that goes to the deck lid light is not cracked and is still soft. Wing windows all around work well, bumpers are super straight. No rust on the rockers, and underneath is solid. Comes with original tow bar also. Some off the miles it shows may have even been towed... All glass is solid with no cracks. Paint will buff right out or actually come right off to get to the original paint, some off it wipes right off from sitting in the sun. INTERIOR-- Interior is original and looks really good, obviously needs cleaned. The back seat I saw one little knick/tear, headliner looks great, panels look good, all around and show minor wear. the middle floor mat has a hole and the front has some warping, I guess you would call it. The dash is clean, maybe two small cracks I saw. Front seats have cover although need recovered. I have a original, black middle seat that is almost perfect that goes along with this purchase also. The middle floor has no rust and kick panel on the back seat is solid. ENGINE--- Is dirt but when I look at, if it was cleaned all the rubber and everything looks clean underneath the dirt, not cracked etc.. Engine turns free and everything looks hooked up and intact.OVERALL-- What I think this bus needs is 2 days off solid work. A major day off detailing and your done it will look great! Then a day off mechanics. I would think all it is going to need is 4 new tires,Batteryoils changedfuel line replacedbrakes checked, new master cylinder and wheel cylindersCarburetor cleaned or rebuiltI would think you could have this bus up going, all new tires and everything mentioned above for about $1,000 assuming you are doing the work, which is all basic things. This bus must be towed out and is in a storage area now. The only thing I would think they would allow is for you to change out the tires and that is it, this is not a work shop. Must be towed on a flat bed how it is, or get 4 tires and it comes with the tow bar. This a great original bus with only 94 original miles, very straight, and will take minimal work to look great and should only take $1k or less to get it going. It must be out off the storage area by March 3rd or there will be a $60.00 additional storage charge each month after. If you have any question just let me know. THANKS< TERMS/SHIPPING/ETC...
