1998 Mercedes Benz C43 AMG with only 59,500 miles! Vehicle Condition: Up for auction is from what I have seen around the cleanest and most original example of a C43. If you have arrived here, there is little doubt you know the rarity and uniqueness of this car, and I am sure you would rather hear about this car, rather than copied and pasted specs from the internet - which you probably already know anyways! This car has lived in a garaged family in the desert its whole life, so no rust, bad weather, etc. The pictures make the car look new, and it is really true to life... the car is as new as you will find these days. The whole time I have owned it I used it as an occasional use vehicle which when not used I had it parked in my warehouse. But as time moves on so do our needs, and with the arrival of my son and my potential relocation overseas in a year or so I figure now is a good time to start "thinning the herd" a bit. The owner before me was a Doctor and also used the car as his weekend car, and of course kept it garaged and lovingly cared for. This is a typical Nevada car with no rust anywhere on it, minimal sun exposure, etc. For a quick history lesson, you can have a look here: http://www.c43amg.com/ TOTAL APPROXIMATE PRODUCTION 1998 - 579 units 1999 - 546 units 2000 - 22 units C43s for the US Market = 1147 units Vehicle Exterior: The paint is factory, and considering the car is 12+ years old it could really use a good buff, as there are very faint swirls in it from washing over the years. I don't have a detail guy I would trust since this is factory paint and 100% original it is not worth the risk for me to have some company I don't know do anything like that. The doors and trunk all shut with very minimal effort, all lights, gauges, switches, etc. work properly, and the wheels look perfect minus a bit of minor curb rash on the outer edges... considering they have given 12+ years of service! The tires are new as of 8 months / 3000 miles ago and are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's, they are still quiet and of course no dry rotting. All of the VIN tags match throughout the different panels on the car as you would expect. Vehicle Interior: The vehicle interior is in what I call "time warp" condition, as it looks like it came out of a time warp right back from 1998. The drivers seat, passengers seat, and back seat have no wear marks on them anywhere. The carpet is in excellent condition for a 12+ year old car, and it was obviously owned by a non-smoker since myself or the doctor don't smoke. The interior smells very "Mercedes" with that oh so familiar Mercedes leather smell they all have from that era. All of the switchgear work as you would expect, and everything is incredibly untouched. I have removed the factory Mercedes radio and installed a Headunit with iPod/iPhone hookup and bluetooth, and wired it into the factory BOSE amp, so it sounds incredible. I of course used harness adapters at every step so you can simply remove and unplug if you wish to have the stock radio back in - I will also be including that with the car. I have left the old CD changer in the trunk - it does not work with the new deck. The cupholder works just as it should, in all of its mechanical swing-out glory! The keys have also been upgraded to the "new" style Benz key with the chrome sides. All of them work like they were new, and as you can see at the bottom pics all of the manuals, etc. are also included. Vehicle Mechanicals: We already said it above, and will say it again... this is the cleanest, and more importantly most original C43 I have seen. The car runs excellent and has been driven occasionally since I acquired it, and I have not had any problems save for a new Bosch O2 sensor on bank 1-4, pre-cat. Performance is excellent; it’s comfortable, dependable, and safe. The transmission shifts with no problems or unusual noises. The vehicle accelerates smoothly and sounds great, also no unusual noises. The engine does not ping or knock. Acceleration is strong, braking is strong, it just runs great overall. No known problems here. A year ago I had all of the fluids flushed, this includes brakes, transmission and filter, coolant, and engine oil. I will also change the engine oil again before delivery if you request me to do so at time of purchase - or I can include the extra oil filter for you to do it yourself and become familiar with your new baby much as I like to do!
