I'm putting my 1972 1.7 914 up for sale. I have done a lot of little work to it and have it running quite well now! I just started it up in 17 degree weather and it fired right up and idled immediately! I let it warm up while I chipped ice on the driveway and then drove it around the neighborhood....I got some good looks as I was doing it! This is a good a "driver" level car. I have done a lot of little things to the car to bring it to a more usable/reliable condition than I bought it in.... Both outside door handles, ignition, one key works everything (ignition, doors, trunk) side yellow reflectors , replaced taillight with a used better one reflectors, all soft brake lines and hard lines in engine area, fuel lines in engine area, two injectors, vacuum lines, sail panel trim, hinge and shoulder bolts for rear trunk, hinge bracket for front hood. I'm sure there are other things that I can't think of now. I have also replaced the two piece emergency brake handle with a later model one piece, this works much better. The floor pans and rocker panels are very solid. The hell hole and the mirror image area behind the driver have rust. I have welded in a panel in the "hell hole" area, welded a new battery platform and tray and cleaned the area but this is a short term fix something that the next owner will need to look into five or so years out? The paint looks good in the pictures but in my opinion is a 5 out of ten...the car was originally silver. Things that I feel need to be done would be to make an everyday driver would be: Fix the wipers ( I have an extra wiper motor that I will include but I feel it is more of an electrical issue that I have not been able to track down.), The spedometer or speedometer cable makes a noise every once in a while( not sure what is casing this), at this time the car does not have a radio, and I would imagine it will need a new battery in the near future.
