Vehicle Detail

All original CA car 2nd owner. On Mar-01-11 at 11:42:28 PST, seller added the following information: Thanks for all of the interest the Porsche 912. For the folks that have seen the car, and for those that are interested in making appointments, I can still show the car in Santa Monica between now and Friday. Please send me a note and your phone number.Apologies for not being able to get more details about the car before now. I am the 2nd owner and have had the car for more than 16 yrs. I purchased it from the original owner and have the original owner's manual, maintenance book, toolkit with Klein tools and some limited additional records from the original owner. I have all of the records since I've owned the car. I used it as a daily driver for the first 2 yrs of ownership. Since that time it has been pleasure vehicle and parked in the garage. The original owner had a similar use history. The car is a 4 speed, tangerine color, with original AM/FM/SW radio, fog lights and a/c (it needs to be reinstalled as I removed the undermount fan unit and is sold with the car). I have not had the car repainted other than for spot painting of the rear lid and bumper from a parking lot hit. The original owner had the front left fender repaired from a similar incident. In terms of paint quality, the roof of the car has the most fading. Once compounded properly, it shines like new, but needs to be done regularly. The interior is immaculate and original. Many folks ask who restored the interior as there are no cracks to the dashboard or seats. I had the driver's seat "re padded" 10yrs ago, but other than that, the interior is intact....including the "pocket pulls" on the door pockets. The headliner and visors are in excellent condition and beautiful. There is a bit of discolor of the headliner over the rear window where the trim glue has come loose and from reglue-ing has left a small amount of discolor. The seat belt shine with beautiful Porsche crests. There are no signs of rust and mechanically it is in great working condition. The engine idle's at about 700RPMs and does not smoke. It has its original smog pump (very collectible for 912 enthusiasts) and is very responsive in handling with good pickup for the age of the engine. I have not had the engine rebuilt, and the original owner stated he had never rebuilt the engine. The numbers are matching and you can see the engine number in the pictures. The miles are accurate based on paperwork (Note: the odometer stopped turning last summer and the gage needs to be pulled and repaired) there are approximately 250more miles over the current reading of 73118 as the car is not driven often. Finally, some items a new owner might consider improving would include re-chroming the rims (which have some pitting), replace the rear left lens cover for the tail light which as a crack, and replace the door seals. The driver's door in particular needs to be replaced. Thanks for your interest and bids.On Mar-03-11 at 19:53:48 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked for additional pictures and the time is past on Ebay where I can update the photos. If you're interested in more details to see this "flawless" survivor, please send a message with your email address and I'll send them out. Thanks again for all of the positive comments from folks that have come to see or drive the car. For those of you that are not able to make an appointment, some of the comments include, "flawless"; "I'm surprised how original this car is"; "absolutely amazing, this is much better than the pictures"; "wow, most people over estimate the condition of their vehicles. You've greatly under estimated its quality and condition"Finally, a similar car (black plates from No California, same original condition, a/c, smog pump, foglights, in Golders Green sold at Exotic Motors on Long Island in December for $48K That car has been a winner of many competitions and shows throughout CA and North America. Many 912 Registry members are familiar with the car. One prospective buyer and 912 Registry member compared my listed 912 to that car......my reserve is definitely less.I'm showing the car one last time Friday afternoon if anyone is interested to see it or drive it before the auction ends.Thx
