Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 You are bidding on a Model T Ford Speedster with a 1912 style brass radiator and brass head lights and side lights. The engine serial number is 12,555,760 indicating that it was built in 1925 and it is licensed and titled as a 1925 Ford. The brass radiator is made by Brassworks and cools the car beautifully. The head lights and side/tail lights are also reproductions, but I do not know the manufacturer. The sheet metal is manufactured by Rootlieb with a Torpedo style hood that is 2” longer than a standard Model T hood, which gives it a longer look. The chassis has been lowered 3” in the front by means of a dropped axle and 3” in the rear by means of a re-formed rear frame cross member and a re-arched rear spring. The steering box has been upgraded to an accessory worm & sector type box to provide improved steering at higher speeds. The engine is a standard 4 cylinder Model T power plant with planetary transmission and has a totally rebuilt Frontenac overhead valve cylinder head including new valves, springs, and lifters. The head is a Fronty “T” head with original aluminum cover and original exhaust manifold. The carburetor is a Stromberg MB1 side draft unit and the spark is provided by a front plate style modern distributor to provide trouble free driving. The accessory gasoline vacuum tank was the type supplied with the Fronty head but is only mounted for display. The fuel is supplied to the carburetor via an electric fuel pump. The car was built about 25 years ago and the engine and transmission were professionally rebuilt at that time. I have never had a problem with either and both are strong. Other features include: · New McLaren demountable wire wheels that have been powder coated for durability. · New McLaren clincher rims. · New Firestone 30 x 3 ½ Tires and Tubes. · Neville sliding “fat man” steering wheel. · Brass Monocle Windshield. · Original 6 volt starter & generator. · New Rocky Mountain rear brakes. · Brass Step Plates This car is a strong runner and is FAST and handles wonderfully. I can assist in shipping, but the responsibility is ultimately up to the winning bidder. I have shown zero miles, but without an odometer, I cannot verify the correct number. The car passed NYS vehicle safety inspection last Fall. I do not accept paypal for deposits, but can accept a credit card deposit through my business. A 10% deposit must be made within 3 days of the end of auction and final payment must be within 7 days of the close of auction. If you need special terms, call me. The car is located in Hudson, NY and has a reasonable reserve. It has the usual number of paint dings, since I drive my cars, but nothing that any one would be ashamed of…. I have not tried to hide anything from the listing and you may call me at 518-828-1414 any time to talk about the car. Check my feedback and see for yourself if my word is good. Good luck bidding. On Feb-28-11 at 17:12:13 PST, seller added the following information: Additional information: The vacuum tank is the black drum shaped object to the right of the coil box in the photo of the dash. It has copper lines going out the bottom. I'll try to upload an additional photo. The headlamps are acetylene and will function as such if they are supplied with gas. The side and tail lamps are kerosene and work when supplied with kerosene. I have never operated the head lamps, since acetylene is caustic and I was afraid to burn the lamps. I would hesitate to drive these cars at night anyway.
