It has the 7.3L V8 Diesel engine. We acquired this truck through a trade in. It does start up, run, and shift thru the gears. We were told by previous owner that if it sits in the cold for awhile, it can be tough to get started. But should not have that problem if started daily. The 4WD does engage properly.
