Up for auction is a 1997 Ford Explorer being offered for sale by the original owner. I am listing this vehicle for a friend but will be glad to answer any questions you might have. It has a very solid body with Michelin tires that have about 38,000 miles on them but more than half the tread is still left on the tires. This has been a very reliable vehicle and has been on several cross country trips without any problems. Most of the 233,000 miles have been highway miles and some driving around town going back and forth to work. The vehicle has a AM/FM radio with cassette player which still works fine. The heater gets very hot in the winter and the AC still blows ice cold in the summer. This vehicle has gray cloth interior and it is still in very good condition and only showing minimal wear as the pictures show. This vehicle has been well maintained by the local Ford dealership with regular oil changes and I have quite a number of the original receipts that go with the car. In the last year, I had a engine tune up with new spark plugs, cooling system flush, new upper and lower intake gaskets, replaced both upper control arms and front end alignment. I have the receipt to document this work and have driven only 3,000 miles since this work was done. The vehicle has an aftermarket remote starter also. This vehicle has been a very reliable ride but due to the age and mileage I am obviously selling it AS-IS with no implied warranty. The only known problem currently is that it has a intermittent starting problem where it does not turn over on some occasions such as an electrical short in the ignition switch. Due to the fact that I no longer need the vehicle, I do not plan to investigate it any further and any potential buyer can be aware of this issue. It could be a minor problem. I can not say how much longer the engine and transmission may run since they have never had any major rebuilds and currently have more than 230,000 miles. With a little TLC this vehicle could still be used for cruises along the beach or trips to the Outer Banks. At worse it could serve as a valuable parts car and is well worth a starting price of $1100 at NO RESERVE! This vehicle is available for inspection and test drives and is located in the Chick's Beach section of Virginia Beach, Virginia. I welcome any possible buyers to look at it before making any bids.
