Vehicle Detail

This is another attempt at selling this car due to disingenous bidders.... I thank those of you who have expressed interest with questions and bids in the past and apologize for any confusion the previous "sales" may have caused. Previous uncompleted sales were due to scammers, people without the necessary funds, and people with multiple other excuses. Nobody who won or bid on the car in the past has ever come to look at it either before or after the auction. I welcome you to come look. The car has not been the problem.... just the previous winners have been the problem. Tax refunds are coming in and the snow is melting, YIPPEE!! So, that being said, once again, WELCOME! Up for auction we have a 1960 Chevrolet Impala 2-door hardtop project car in need of total restoration. This car originally had a 283 cid motor with a 3-speed manual transmission. It still retains the original clutch pedal assembly and 3-speed column. It did have a 4-speed in it at one time which is evidenced by the cut in the floor for the shifter. For those of you who would rather have an automatic set up I can switch out the Z-BAR and PUSH ROD going to it, even up, for an automatic pedal assembly. The choice is yours. It will come to you less motor and transmission, as pictured and without the rally rims. I have an original 1960 283 4-bbl motor that was rebuilt approximately 5000 miles ago that could be worked into the deal. I also have a totally rebuilt 327 with zero miles that could be worked into the deal as well but this auction is for the car less motor, wheels, and transmission as pictured. Approximately 2-1/2 years ago the car had new lower front and rear reproduction quarter patch panels and rocker panels installed. They still need some finishing. It also received new original style trunk pans (3 pieces) and new original style front floor pans at that time. The rear floor pans are flat metal unlike the originals and each has one or two dime size holes still needing attention. The area below the tail panels has all been rebuilt and although it is not exactly like the original metal it looks decent and is servicable. This is a great start for a rat rod, hot rod, street rod, gasser, kustom, low rider, bagged, slammed, or daily driver. If you are going for original and want top show you will need to finish or rework some areas to make it exact as per original. After the body work was done 2-1/2 years ago a tree fell across the top of the passenger side quarter panel and damaged the trunk lid in the process. I purchased the car with the damaged trunk lid and quarter. I recently located a mint trunk lid in NC, stripped it to bare metal, epoxy primed it, then installed it. This particular lid fits 1960 hardtop only and is very hard to find today. There is NO bondo and NO rust on this lid inside or outside. It does latch when shut. The white quarter panel piece you see in the pictures is from a 1960 4-door hardtop I parted out and is included. It has the original white paint on it so you can see how nice it is. I also have the long upper quarter trim in VG condition, it was already off the car when the damage occured. This will fix almost all (if not all) of the damged area you see on the RH rear of the car. I placed black electrical tape on the existing quarter that outlines where the white panel would cover in some of the pictures for you to view. With the new trunk lid and the white quarter piece this becomes an easy repair. The roof has no rust bubbles anywhere and no dents. The area around the rear window looks good too, a common rust area on these cars. The doors and fenders are very usable with minimal rust, just a few bubbles here or there on some. The hood has no rust on the underside but does have a small dent on the passenger side windsplit and the rear corners have been slightly bent, still very workable. The frame from what I can see appears to be solid with no rust out over the rear which can be a common occurance on these cars. The interior would be presentable with a set of seat covers as the front and rear seats do have some splits. The headliner looks like it will clean up and is not ripped. You will get the new red "salt and pepper" original style carpet I have for no additional charge if you use the buy it now option only, see below. The glass has no cracks and all of it looks usable. There is an area of fogging on the drivers side door glass near the bottom and there is a wiper mark on the passenger side of the windshield. Some of the windows have a film to tint them and this can be removed easily. The trim is all there. You should be able to see everything in the supersizable pictures (or slide show) as to condition. The long strips on each side of the quarter stripe, top and bottom, are present but in poor condition. All other pieces are present and restorable, some do have small dents or imperfections. I also will supply you with a battery box, radiator, and SBC fan shroud. The drive shaft is present too. I am trying to give you a car as complete as possible, less motor and trans. The VIN is on the car and the PA. title does match. I have the keys and trunk lock. You will get the title free and clear signed by the last seller and ready for you, the buyer, to sign and have notarized. If you need a bill of sale I can provide one as well. The cowl tag is missing from the car. I have no clue as to why since it came to me that way. This will not prevent you from putting the title to the car in your name. The only other thing I need to mention is the rims, caps, and tires pictured do NOT go with the car. It will come with decent rollers that you can see stacked behind the car in some of the pictures. If you want the 15x7 rally rims with excellent tires you can have them for an additional $300. Also, if you feel inclined to hit the buy it now I will include a set of new red original style carpet, a $175-$200 value. One edge of the carpet has a very small spot that has been mouse chewed but it is the edge under the seat or carpet sill (rear section) and you would never see it once installed and would never know a mouse got to it if I didn't tell you. It is that small of an area, real tiny! You only get the carpet with the car if you use the buy it now. Another item worth noting is the car seems to have POSI rear internals. While the housing does not have the large "P", when the car is jacked up both wheels turn. So someone at one time most likely put POSI guts in a non-posi housing, a common swap back in the day. I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. Please, above all else, realize this is a project car. It has been off the road for several years. You can not get in it, turn the key, and go. I do tend to go into detail as I have found it saves alot of time and questions in the long run. I try my best to make sure my buyers are happy with their purchase. I do not try to get top dollar for the cars I list since my overhead is low .....and my buy it now is always fair. I have sold 9 out of the last 10 cars listed and many have ended with the buy it now feature. You will see 24 large pictures here and if you click on the below link you will see a slideshow consisting of 51 full screen pictures in total. http://s445.photobucket.com/albums/qq179/marksdeals/Red%201960%20Chevy%20hardtop%20for%20sale/?albumview=slideshow Lastly, we are all adults here. Please if you dont have the money or permission from the "significant other" then I respectfully ask that you do not bid. If your feedback is zero or negative please contact me before bidding or your bid may be cancelled. To those of you who have questions please ask before the auction ends and try not to wait until the last minute. I can be reached at marksdeals@comcast.net or (302)730-3715. I will not do payment plans!! If you need to discuss payment methods or details please contact me before bidding, not after. You are welcome to come and look in person if desired. I will be available anytime weekdays, weekends sometimes are difficult. I can supply you with any additional pictures needed if you contact me a day or two before the auction ends. This car is sold with no warranties express or implied and no guarantees of any kind. Payment is to be made in USA dollars. I will need a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $300 thru paypal immediately due to the performance of the past non-paying bidders! I will accept the balance via wire transfers, cash, or verifiable bank checks within 7 days. The car and title will not be released until all funds have cleared my account, no exceptions. The car can stay here up to two months (possibly longer if discussed) if it is paid in FULL. Transport is the buyers responsibility. I will assist in loading any way I can. I am a reasonable guy so if there are any problems I am sure we can work things out. Note: This car is also listed locally and I retain the right to cancel the listing anytime if a local sale is made. However, once reserve is met I will let the auction run to completion. BID EARLY! Thank you for reading this far. I wish you the best of luck in your bidding. Hopefully you will be the new owner of this piece of Chevrolet history!
