Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a classic Porsche 930 (911) turbo coupe, in black over black. Only 79k miles (may vary slightly; car is still being driven), with considerable mechanical refurbishment done at 77k. I purchased the car back in 2003, and have service records going back to 1999. Clean Carfax. Black exterior with black leather interior. Interior is in very good shape, with no cracks or splits in the seats or dash. The car had a major mechanical refresh done at around 77k, including: Rebuilt transmission New Andial clutch & clutch cable New axle shafts; 4-wheel alignment done New tires on stock rims (Yokohama AVS ES100s) New front struts and rear shocks (Bilsteins), misc suspension pieces & bushings New brake pads and rotors New sunroof seal Complete major maintenance and tune-up, including full engine re-seal. No leaks! Lots of other stuff, including vacuum hoses, belts, etc. etc. Although this car is almost all stock, it does have a few (mostly invisible) mechanical upgrades. There is a 1-bar wastegate spring installed, along with an Andial fuel mixture controller (adjustable from under the front seat). The stock exhaust has been updated with a freer-flowing B&B muffler and cat, and a Wevo shifter mechanism replaces the stock, rather sloppy original (shift lever is stock, however). Car was dyno'ed when all the maintenance was done to get it tuned in, and to insure car would pass state emission tests (I have dyno sheets). Final run showed around 300hp at the rear wheels. Car is a complete blast to drive; it is classic '80's turbo – lots of lag, then hold on to your hat! Although the auto-heat and fan work great, the a/c is not cold. You can fill it (R12) and it will work for about a year until it leaks out again. I fiddled with fixing it a few times, but it needs at least new hoses and other work to keep it from leaking. Body is clean and straight, although it does have some scratches and road rash consistent with age. Worst is probably a scratch on the driver's side rear fender flare, but I had a hard time getting it to show in pictures. Finish on wheels is faded, although they are the original Fuchs and they run out straight. It also has a small, repaired (Safelite) windshield ding on the passenger side. Being sold by older car collector (and long-time PCA member) with lots of other cars. Not good at flashy ads or language, this is a very well-cared for car at a decent price. It's been very reliable since all the work was done; I recently drove it from Washington DC to Philadelphia and back with no problems. May consider trades for other German cars or 1960s-1970s Mopar muscle, but no project cars. Unusual color combinations (interior and/or exterior) a major plus. Examples include Porsche 928, Mercedes 560sel, Audi 200tq wagon, '60's Mopar big-block wagon, and others (yes, it is a strange list). Questions are welcome....thank you!
