VIN # 1142596527 This crowd pleaser, show stopper was totally professionally restored WITH BODY OFF THE FRAME AND SANDBLASTED 3,258 miles ago. I purchased it with 2,100 miles. It was restored with NEW hardware, or replaced with new STAINLESS STEEL hardware, or painted hardware. I purchased this vehicle on November 13, 2005. The garage the vehiclke is stored in is a heated, climate controlled garage where my show vehicles are kept and this is one of them. The pictures were taken in snow with a DROID. The vehicle was taken out to take these pictures and them moved back into the garage. I HAVE INVESTED $7,000 IN ACCESSORIES, PARTS AND LABOR OVER THE AUCTION PURCHASE PRICE. The orginial motor was replaced by the original owner with a 2.0 liter STROKER MOTOR with DUAL WEBER CARBS & FULL HEADERS with BIGGER PISTONS AND CYLINDERS. Also take a look at the see through distributor cap and all the color coated wiring. The engine is as much a piece of art as the car itself! The entire undercarriage and floor boards were also professionally replaced by the original owner with NEW FLOORBOARDS AND PAINTED MATCHING PURPLE AS IS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CAR'S THEME. The paint job is a WHITE PEARLIZED FLIP FLOP TRANSLUSCENT WHITE COLOR. The windshield washer and windshield wiper works as they should. The headlights were upgraded to HELLA and there is a 2 TRUMPET 155 DECIBEL AIR HORNS with SEPARATE AIR TANK AND COMPRESSOR JUST LIKE ON THE HIGH END 18 WHEELERS! Mounted on the FRONT HOOD are the DUAL TRUMPET CHROMED AIR HORNS MADE BY HADLEY [costing over $500] as well as decorative BULL HORNS and TWO 100 WATT STAR STAINLESS STEEL SPOTLIGHTS angled low and at a 45 DEGREE ANGLE to see off to the sides of the road [see photos]. The air tank for the air horn is mounted under the front license plate and the air gauge and air compressor are located in front of the purple gas tank. [made by Hadley]. Please note that there are 2 places where you can use the hose to fill up your tires or inflatable toys by using the air compressor. There are 2 places: one in front under the hood and another by the side of the engine that has an air hose fitting so if you wanted to inflate or deflate your tires for various riding conditions you can easily do it yourself. If you have an air mattress or water toys you can fill them up easily! You can also use it to air dry YOUR CAR WITH COMPRESSED AIR after you wash your car to prevent spotting and/or rusting. EVERYTHING ON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WORKS AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. ALL WAS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S MECHANIC(S) AS WELL AS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED BY MY MECHANICS. [Central Avenue Auto Body, Delta Electronics, Bruno's V.W. and Glendale Auto Tech in Queens, New York). I also had professionally installed AN INTERIOR 12 VOLT HEATER for winter driving and AN AUTO METER COMPETITION 4" TACHOMETER WITH RESET BUTTON. [There is also an AMBER SHIFT LIGHT attached to the tachometer. There is a passenger window post mounted CHROME FIRE EXTINGUISHER. There is INTERIOR MOOD LIGHTING and INTERIOR 12 VOLT FAN, LIGHT, AND DEFOGGER MOUNTED ON THE REAR SHELF. There is also a SPARE BATTERY under the rear seat next to the original battery which has an on and off switch [depending if you need it or not.] Installed inside is a CELL PHONE HOLDER. I had a switch put in for the clock to turn it on and off [since I hardly use this vehicle and did not want the battery to draw from the clock ticking.] There is also a switch for the air compressor so it is not running all the time. There is also a switch for the fuel pump to help deter theft. There is an anodized emergency brake and I had installed a PURPLE STROBE LIGHT. So, when the emergency brake is engaged, the strobe light flashes to let you know that the emergency brake is on. If you notice by the gas pedal, then to the left the is the brake pedal, then to the left of the brake pedal is the clutch pedal. I installed a non-moveable look-alike pedal that is really a foot rest for your left foot so that you can relax your left foot on the pedal in-between clutching. I also had the windows on the driver and passenger side replaced and removed the small butterfly windows. I had windows installed like the "SO CAL LOOK" with no split. Therefore, there is solid whole glass on both sides. Also included are: AN EXTRA BAFFLE AND EXHAUST MEGAPHONE. THE INTERIOR AND ENTIRE VEHICLE ARE IN MINT CONDITION WITH NO SCRATCHES, RUST, OR DAMAGE. OF ANY KIND. ALL THAT STILL HOLDS TRUE TODAY AND MY PERSONAL TOUCHES HAVE ADDED TO THE FUNCTIONING AND BEAUTY OF THIS SUN BUG! This SUN BUG has been winning shows in either first or second place and often selected PEOPLE'S CHOICE! IT HAS NEVER TAKEN LESS THAN SECOND PLACE! There's more!! The CD AM / FM radio was installed by the original owner as well as a GENE BERG 4 SPEED COMPETITION SHIFT. FOR THE TALL PERSON: I also had installed the much more moveable FRONT PASSENGER and DRIVER SEAT SLIDING BRACKETS for more room in the front and back seats as needed. So a person 6'5" TALL can sit in this and easily drive it! It can accommodate a very tall person or short one easily! I also had installed FRONT AND REAR HIGH ENERGY SHOCK ABSORBERS WITH CHROME SPRINGS. [SEE THE PHOTOS]. After I purchased it from the original owner I also had a NEW 3" body lift installed along with NEW AMERICAN RACING RIMS AND FRONT TSL THORNBIRD TIRES 30" X 11.50 X 15 AND ON THE REAR ARE MOUNTED THORNBIRD 33" X 12.50 X 15 TIRES WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON THEM NOW! I ALSO HAD THE FRONT AND REAR FENDERS cut and trimmed to give this the BAJA LOOK as well as to accommodate the larger tires. Mounted on the top rear fenders are 100 watt STAR STAINLESS STEEL LIGHTS aimed toward the rear so you can optionally turn these on if a dirver is tailgaiting, has high beams on, or if you want to see higher when you are going in reverse. [ALL THE LIGHTS CAN BE EASILY ADJUSTED TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS]. There are 3 separate HEADLIGHTS along with green fog lights on purple brackets. This vehicle has never been dirven in rain, snow or off road conditions. After washing I dried the car with a low powered leaf blower. Also mounted on the Gene Berg Shift Lever is a momentary on and off switch with a ring/ ding dong chime/bell/ which I use as a reverse back-up warning. Also installed at the engine compartment is a complete CHROME KIT INCLUDING FAN SHROUD WITH STAINLESS STEEL FIREWALL. Also, purchased was a stainless steel 175 amp alternator which was specifically MADE FOR THIS VEHICLE SO YOU CAN RUN ALL THESE LIGHTS AND EQUIPMENT AT THE SAME TIME WITHOUT DRAINING THE BATTERY. What was not chromed was then painted purple to match the rest of the purple theme. Not only were the rear back-up lights installed from the original owner I also installed CHROME AND AMBER 55 round fog lights angled on a slight angle left and right to light up the area while backing up. THE LICENSE PLATE FRAME ON THE REAR HAS ROTATING AND STROBE EFFECT SKELETON HEADS LIGHTING UP THE LICENSE PLATE. A VERY, VERY ATTENTION GETTER! There is also a switched set of purple lights aiming towards and reflecting off the chrome and stainless steel engine components to light up the entire engine compartment, as well as various other strobe lights to decorate the entire rear of the vehicle. REMEMBER!! ALSO INSTALLED and connected to the airhorn is an emergency air valve which is used for filling up tires [as needed] or connecting an air blower to dry your engine compartment after washing it so no rust sets in and you are able to dry all your chrome pieces with no spotting. Also installed are stainless steel hoses as well as RUSSELL RED ANODIZED FITTINGS. THE FRONT AND REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS WERE ALSO UPGRADED TO GIVE THAT SHOW- FINISHED LOOK AND A MORE COMFORTABLE RIDE! The transmission again, has been completely rebuilt with the combination of calibration of a 1st and 2nd gear (low) for quick quarter mile making takeoff as well as fast acceleration on the highway from the merging lane and 3rd and 4th gear (high) for easy cruising on the highway. This vehicle is wired for a CB with rear mounting antenna [but no CB IS INCLUDED, I removed it]. I hope you have enjoyed what you have just read about this BAJA BUG that draws radical attention from people in who grab their cell phones to take pictures as you drive by or while you are stopped at a red light. It gets attention from people young and old. Of all the vehicles I have ever owned, this drew the most neck-snaping results from the ladies mostly because of the purpley pearlized paint. Once again, look at the pictures and see the color matched accents and details. Look at the engine, the underside, the wheel wells, the brake rotors, accents, and details. Look at the color coordinated custom stitched seats. See the purple stripe on the dash board, under the hood, purple gas tank and purple striping and purple nerf bars. Also in front is a purple dot LED light along with an irridescent fluorescent backlight to enhance the spooky appearance of the front end. TO SUMMARIZE THE ORIGINAL OWNER EQUIPPED THE BAJA BUG WITH A GENE BERG SHIFTER FRONT DISC BRAKES AND THE ORIGINAL REAR BRAKE DRUMS WERE REPLACED WITH "VW THING" DRUMS THAT ARE BIGGER AND BETTER.
