Vehicle Detail
I have to start out with our story. My brother worked for Boyd as his personal assistant, driver, & on the TV show "American Hotrod" before Boyd passed away. My brother had known Boyd for several years before. My brother made some mistakes in his life & it cost him some years of his freedom. No one would give my brother a job after he got out. Boyd gave my brother a chance & my brother became one of the most trusted members of his team. Unfortunately Boyd passed away & the TV show ended as well as my little brother's career. I still thank Boyd for helping him as it made a difference in my brother's life. I have here Boyd's 1997 Lincoln Town Car super stretch Limo built by Krystal Coach, manufactured 9/97. This was Coddington's personal limo. Famous for "Boyd wheels" & the recent TV show "American Hotrod" & sometimes seen in some of the episodes. It is registered as a Town Car & not as a commercial vehicle so registration costs $77 a year!. Insurance as non commercial is very inexpensive. Due to a recent low speed shudder in the trans I had it rebuilt in Dec. 2010 & also the rear suspension bags were replaced. Has 130k orig. miles & dual HD alternators and batteries. A Copy of the original title with Boyd's info on it will be given to the high bidder. Clean Carfax. It's currently stored outside & will need a good detail & cosmetics as listed. On a Calif. non-op with DMV so no back fees are due. A moving permit will be provided so it can be driven to its new home. Runs & drives very nice. Features, a moon roof, auto mood lighting inside, front & rear heating & air, plush black leather seats, power partition, powerful CD stereo with amps, real wood accents, bar with crystal & built in ice buckets with drainage, etc. 3 windows don't roll down & will need regulators & I am told this is a common issue with Lincolns & easy to fix.. Reserve is low, so bid to win. Drivers seat has a small tear in the lower back corner & some of the paint behind the front driver & pass. door is starting to crack as well as the vinyl top. Car is not perfect but it will not take much to make it so. It may be just another limo, however to us it's a piece of history & we wish we could keep it. Vehicle is for sale in other areas & may sell before the auction ends. Thank you. On Feb-13-11 at 20:18:20 PST, seller added the following information: Bidders I went back to check on the car and forgot to mention its nice control panel above the driver that shuts down the power to the rear area so when empty it's not wasting energy. A control panel is present in the passenger area that controls mood lighting in the ceiling that's like different colored stars in space and the bar area lights up too. Unfortunately someone got into it where it's being stored and took 2 wheel center caps, 4 glasses, the VCR and TV, some minor damage to the long lower moldings just where they meet the rear doors. A small portion was broken off on the end. These are cosmetic rubber and are still available. As far as the TV & VCR, I am sure the new buyer was planning an upgrade anyway. Nothing else was taken. The amplifier, and sub-woofer set up is still in the trunk and the cabin's CD player was not taken. I removed the car from storage and have it at my home. Because of this I am lowering the reserve below 5k. I really want someone to enjoy this car and it's a shame it just sits. On Feb-16-11 at 07:54:56 PST, seller added the following information: ****Bidders, Please be aware that pick-up must be done on the weekend. During the week can be arranged after 6:30pm. Winner can leave it at my gated home after payment 1-2 weeks if needed to arrange transport, however, I will not re-wash it. Weather permitting, I will have it cleaned Saturday morning**** On Feb-16-11 at 11:19:55 PST, seller added the following information: For those of you who didn't know Boyd Coddington In Memoriam: Boyd Coddington 1944-2008Boyd passed away on the morning of February 27 and will be missed by family, friends and fans around the world. Boyd's passion for hand-crafting cars began in his childhood, on a small farm outside of Rupert, Idaho. It was here that he began building cars from scratch at the age of 13. At the age of 22, Boyd moved to the hot rodding capital of the world - Southern California. It wasn't long before Boyd established a reputation for craftsmanship and imaginative detailing. It was there that he opened his own shop in 1978. Boyd would soon be inventing custom cars for superstars such as ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Van Halen's Michael Anthony. Boyd earned many awards including seven wins for America's Most Beautiful Roadsters, the prestigious Riddler Award, and Builder of the Year at the Grand National Roadster Show. He also holds the distinction of designing the first and only hot rod in The Smithsonian Museum of American History, and the first to grace the cover of Smithsonian magazine. Boyd's designs helped establish the idea of what a hot rod is. His work inspired many including the next generation of custom-building superstars - both Chip Foose and Jesse James are alumni of his shop.
