Here you see a clean, functional Range Rover County SWB (Short Wheel Base). There is little to say to describe it, as the pictures speak for themselves. The body is in very good condition, cosmetically, the engine starts easily and runs beautifully, the transmission engages and shifts as it should. In this model year, the valving in the transmission was changed to make the shifts between forward gears a bit softer. This shows, as the changes are nearly imperceptible under moderate or gentle acceleration. Under harder acceleration, the shifts can be felt, but are smooth, timely, and decisive. The All-Wheel Drive on this vehicle functions just fine, although I have not had the transfer case out of high range since I bought the vehicle. The brakes pull this 4400 pound beast down from highway speed with great alacrity, although the rotors have a faint wobble to them, and may need to be turned. There are no untoward fluid leaks of any kind, to my knowledge, although this model year does have the well-known oversensitive coolant level light. This will illuminate when there is less than a half pint of fluid needed to completely fill the expansion tank. On the flipside, there is some corrosion on the underside. The chassis is sound and has largely intact undercoating on it. The steel inner fender on the driver's side rear has some rust around the seatbelt mount. The rear floors are sound, except for the rearmost edge, near the tailgate, where there is a small amount of perforation. The tailgate has some light scabbing from rust, but seals adequately, and stays closed. All of the doors open, close and lock as they should, with the central power locking in tip-top shape, except for the driver's side rear door, which opens fine from the inside, and locks and unlocks as it should, but needs to have the turnbuckle inside the door adjusted, to restore the exterior latch to correct function. The sunroof is utterly leak free, and opens and closes perfectly. All lights function as they should, although one of the driving lights needs a bulb. The heated seat on the passenger side functions as it should, but the element has burned out on the driver's side. This is indicated by the switch illuminating and the circuit energizing as it should, but the driver is left with a cold seat. The heat and air conditioning also functions as it should, but requires a resistor pack for full blower function, as speeds II and III have failed. There is power to the switch, but the resistor (located in the cowl vent under the windshield) needs to be replaced. Fitted to this vehicle is a set of nearly new Mastercraft All-Terrain tires, with plenty of tread depth, as seen in the photo. This vehicle is also fitted with the venerable a/d/s audio system which plays with amazing clarity and presence from the factory radio, or the rear-mounted 6-disc CD changer. The vehicle has an expired VA state inspection, but would pass Virginia's strict inspection standard with flying colors if the inspection were to be renewed, as the lights, horn, brakes (including ABS) etc. function as they should.
