Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 You’re bidding on a rare Amigo. It has yet to be winter-weather driven. It was previously titled in FL and GA. My sister and her husband bought it a year ago. The body and frame are solid, not repaired, original metal. The only new paint is on the hood and roof, the sun beat the shine out of the original finish. The frame still has the factory number painted on the left rail right behind the rear tire (see photo). Like the ad says, you can fly in and drive home; a very smooth running engine. An extra set of tires is included on the original Amigo chrome wheels with the matching purple splash on the wheel centers. The 15” rims are showing their age, rusted steel shows more than the chrome! But the Amigo is not without its problems. A new head (not rebuilt, brand new) and timing belt was installed when we first got it. While in the shop the alternator was rebuilt, a brand new starter installed and the hoses replaced; heater and radiator hoses. Ran fine all year, but right now it won’t idle. The EGR seems to be the culprit, but we’ve put so much money into this already we just want to sell it as is. Keep the RPMs up and it’s ok to get home, but will need to be fixed. Included are the replacement parts for the air conditioning (used compressor and high and low pressure hoses). We just never got around to the install. The battery was replaced last summer. The motor has great compression, but the oil rings are letting oil pass into the combustion chamber, so it burns oil. There are no fluid leaks. The Haynes manual and original owners manual are also included. The front seats were in pretty bad shape so we cannibalized a '95 Honda Passport with 58K. The front buckets, console and 16” aluminum wheels are from the Honda. The rear fold-down seat is original, and the foam on the seatback is showing. The top is a newer BestTop, the rear plastic window has tape on it. All the normal stuff works great, heat, intermittent wipers, lights, etc. The trailer hitch sports a 1 7/8" ball. The brakes and clutch are fine, good tread on the tires, the spare is good. It runs straight and is a stable road vehicle. It's 2-wheel drive. The radio and speakers will knock you out - loud and clear! The rear Sony 6x9’s are new, the front 5 1/2’s are used Pioneers. It's parked in Aurora (west suburban Chicago) and ok for test drives. The license plates expire at the end of February. We will leave them on the car so you can get it home without getting hassled. It’s less than 40 miles from either O’Hare or Midway airports. Good luck bidding! On Feb-05-11 at 11:25:59 PST, seller added the following information: NEW INFO! SATURDAY 2/5/11 FAN MOTOR NOT WORKING! I took it for a ride today to put some gas in it and drive it around to discover the fan motor not working. It was working when we parked it 2 months ago. The fuse is good, I can't check the relay, I don't know why.
