Hi, This is my 1978 Datsun 510 wagon. I bought it about 1 year and 2 months ago from the original owner. At that time a few small things were fixed and the engine was given a light tune-up. Since then I have been driving it. About 8 months about I gave a full engine tune up and replacement of the starter, spark plugs, belts, and front brakes (calipers, rotors, and pads). A couple months after that I replaced the idler arm in the front, and the slave cylinder of the clutch system. The car runs great and there is nothing seriously wrong with it. It has a New York State inspection that will last until November. The body has been undercoated, and the underside is in great shape. Problems: The side skirts and doors are starting to show some rust along the bottom (see pictures). There is a very slight leak in the hydraulic clutch system, because of this I need to top off the clutch fluid about once a month. Also, there is a problem with the seal right above the windshield, and water will leak into the cabin in a heavy rain storm. This is a very fun car, although there are only 4 gears. It will go 70 mph on the highway, but it would be nice if they put a 5th gear on it. I had the most fun putting my 8 foot surfboard in the back and going to beach, or driving it to a party. I am selling it because I am now living a faster-paced life style and don't have the time or the space to keep it in proper condition. Driving in Long Island isn't the best environment for this kind of car. Anyway I hope there is someone out there who wants to bring this thing back to it's original shine, it is really not very far from that.
