Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1/30/2011 - I added pictures to the listing as I have had an overwhelming request for them, hope these help. A lot of you are interested in this as a daily driver. Here is a list of things to consider before purchasing this car; and after having added it, you may think that I am not interested in selling the car at all. Well, I just want to be as upfront as I possibly can. For me, this car is a passion from driving it to caring for it. I realize all these issues with it but enjoy owning it none-the-less. For me it has a real personality, just maybe needs a bit of a make-over. I think this is a good car to own and you should be capable of at the least doing your own oil changes. Timing belt Service – preformed 01/17/2007 - miles since service 14,000. All parts used are Porsche factory parts installed by Robert at Lufteknic, one of the best Porsche mechanics/shop owners around. Please feel free to contact him regarding his belief about timing belt replacement. I believe a lot of the hype out there to replace the belts so often is due to untrained mechanics using non-Porsche parts and non-Porsche tools and equipment. When replaced, it was the original belt with nearly 100,000 miles and 19 years on it. The complete job cost $1,498.69. Clutch Replacement – May 2009 replaced with Sachs Clutch Kit. I paid a mechanic to do the work who does work for the 944 Cup racers. Clutch is tight and “sticky” going into gear until the car warms up, but shifts and operates fine and is very smooth once the transmission oil is warmed. Right front fender - someone backed into it so I beat the dent out with a rubber mallet. It is still a bit crinkled (see picture). I also sprayed Krylon red paint over the area to dull it, and that is what it exactly looks like. Left door and right door - there were some dings down to the metal. I sanded and primed the areas and used Krylon red, you can tell Paint overall - There are no issues as far as metal being exposed, but a good paint job would be a consideration for improving the overall appearance. Left door - See picture, the sheet metal is torn where the mechanism to prevent the door from opening too far attaches. I have learned to live with it by never letting go of the door when I open it. Rear Hatch struts holding the hatch open need to be replaced. I use a piece of aluminum tubing to hold it open. Sun visors are not installed. The plastic clip on drivers side that holds it closed broke, though I have the visors and can be installed, though it hangs loose and without the clip cannot be locked in the up position. Both seats have rips in them at seams, the driver’s seat is from a 944 and is electric, which is not hooked up, and brown though it is hard to tell the difference even when looking at it in person. You can still adjust the seat closer and farther away from the steering wheel. The rear seats are removed and what you see in the pictures is a homemade camera mount. I still have the seats and seat belts but it will be some work to put them back, which I am sorry to say, I am not interested in doing. Dash is cracked Odometer is broken , I did replace the cable but it is a broken gear inside the odometer, the speedometer works, but is off because the tire size on the car is 205/50/15. Stock size is a taller and narrower. Heater control cable which regulates hot/cold air jammed about 6 months ago. I have not tried to find the jam or kink or why, but it is stuck with hot air coming out. AC operates though would need a charge and probably a leak test. It did blow some cool air when I bought it, though I never used it believing if the compressor was still good I might damage it if low on Freon. Windshield wipers work, but the lever has some play up and down Turn signal lever works, but a small plastic bump inside steering column is broken so that you have to manually turn them off after making a turn Some dash lights don't work. I had pulled the dash apart a couple years ago but dumb enough not to replace all the bulbs. The bulb for speed is burnt out. Plus, even the ones that work are very dim. No interior lights . There should be one above mirror and in hatch area but they were cracked and I removed them Cruise control removed Motor to open and close sun roof removed - sun roof locked in place but can easily be removed, however as I almost discovered the hard way, without it locked down the air pressure at highway speeds will want to send it flying Motor to unlock and lock rear hatch removed Head light motor not working - I rebuilt it before, but has stopped working again. Currently you have to manually raise and lower headlights Right side door handle - I replaced and did add the original lock cylinder, however i was unable to get the small plastic clip set to unlock the door with the key so you have to unlock from the inside. Once unlocked you can open and close the door from the outside. Front bumper has a ding in the center. It is a thick piece of aluminum. It would need to be ground down and filled to fix. The current tires on the car, while having plenty of tread left, have been used on the track and because of the heat cycles give no audible warning before losing traction. Well, that is about all that I can think of right now, though you should expect there to be a few more details that need attention to make this a good looking and comfortable daily driver. I did not expect that much interest in the car and if you are still interested and reading this then thank you. It is close to 25 years old and far from perfect but is both a terrific car on track and is fun just driving around town.
