Vehicle Detail
Neglected Nine-11 We were prowling around dead ends and driveways just like usual when our jaws dropped and our hearts skipped a beat. In front of us was a seemingly abandoned Porsche Targa. The Targa's tires were flat and the roof was beginning to peel up at the corner. I had to have it. I began to leave notes every 3 months and this was 2 years ago! Luckily one day I found a nice guy tinkering on his boat and he set me up to meet the owner. It was a well healed lady owner who showed up and proceeded to blow us away with her energetic banter. I was so bedazzled with her alluring nature I completely lost my game face and gave her every penny of the asking price. After such a long cat and mouse game I was exhausted and just wanted to haul my prize home, which I did. I had my friend Tom cut a key and the local tire guy hooked me up with 4 decent tires, meaning they hold air. I had my local shop boil and blast the tank out and it was finally time to get a battery and hit it! She fired right up for a minute but we shut her right back down. The points were super corroded and it was getting dark. It has yet to idle down but we will be updating this ad before the auction closes. I'm going to do some more tune-up stuff to get this job done right. I'm sure you are thinking what this car is? I've had two expert Porsche guys give me their hypothesis. This Porsche had the S/C bodywork added. It is not an S/C. When I bought the car every guy in the neighborhood came over to talk smack and kick rocks. One neighbor knew that the previous owner had added the S/C stuff. It seems as though they all concur. What I have for you here is a very solid platform to begin a restoration. I believe the engine will run but I have not got it running as of yet. It leaks oil. The lady owner said it always gave her electrical problems. The car has sat dormant since 1992. The front seats need a total re-do. There is more cleaning to do. Much work will need to happen to get this car roadworthy. If you've got the itch, begin scratching now. Harris On Feb-04-11 at 20:10:55 PST, seller added the following information: I had some time after work to tinker around on the porsche. My tune up kit had not arrived. I did run through the controls and this is what I have for you. The head lights work. The tail lights work. The brake lights work. The power mirrors work. The entire dash lights up. The power windows do not work. The fuses in general are old and look like they could all be replaced. I feel confident the porsche will run. Thank you for all your questions, especially the ones coming straight from Germany where this baby was born.
