If you love Rancheros then this is the vehicle for you. This particular vehicle is very rare and desirable but will sell for an affordable price. This is a little-known and extremely rare offering of a 1969 Rio Grande FORD Ranchero. Available only by special order, this was essentially a GT in one of the "Grabber" colors, "Wimbledon White" ("Poppy Red" and "Calypso Coral were also available), with the hood scoop, side stripes, bed rails, vinyl top, Magnum 500 wheels and very unique and rare "Ford Ranchero Rio Grande" wheel centers. As a result, these Rancheros received Ford's "SPECIAL PERFORMANCE VEHICLE" identification on the data plate (see picture). These vehicles may be identified by the aforementioned designation as well as a blank space where the trim code would normally be found. Firm production figures are unclear, but popular documentation estimates that no more than 900 total units were built. This Ranchero has the original 351W with a 2V carb, deluxe GT interior, power steering, manual drum brakes, bench seat, automatic transmission, GT side stripes, magnum 500 wheels with Rio Grande center caps, side bed rails, hood scoop, black vinyl top. I also have the original build sheet, and although it is torn from being under the seat for 42 years, almost all of the data is readable. This car has not run in a few years, but the engine is not locked up and does turn over. I have included many pictures, but here is a fair description of the overall condition: The front coil springs, spring seats, and shocks are like brand new. The frame rails are in good shape but the front torque boxes need replaced. The front fenders and quarter panels have been patched before and will need patch panels. The hood must be replaced. The floors are in decent condition, and the bed is pretty nice, although there is a 4 inch hole in front of the driver's side real wheel on the bed floor. The vinyl top itself is in good condition but there is rust bubbles coming from underneath. The dash pad is in really good condition and does not have any cracks and the original rim blow steering wheel remains but needs restored. The bottoms of both doors have rust and will need patched or replaced. Original seat belts are in good shape, but the carpet is not. The rare factory bed rails are intact and are in fairly good shape (no bends or cracks). Drivers seat tear is shown in pictures. All chrome is very weathered and needs redone. Tailgate has rust at the bottom and inside latch is broken. This would made a great project for the Ranchero enthusiast who wants the rarest of the Rancheros, and at a very affordable price.
