Vehicle Detail

This 1996 Infiniti G20 is a clean car, in good shape for the year and mileage. The odometer has 87,028 on it and we don’t plan to drive it much by the time the car is sold. It was owned by my wife and her mother before her. There have been no other owners. The car has not been in any accidents. It has a few minor scuffs, one on the right front bumper and a few dings on the sides. These are visible in the photos. The car has spent most of its life in the Baltimore area, so overall exposure to salt is less than if had been in New England. The only place I found body rust is behind the left front wheel (see photo). It’s only on one side, the other is fine. Due to the heavy traffic in Baltimore the car has more hours on it than most cars in NH with similar mileage and age. All of the regular maintenance has been done, including the 60k service. There is no timing belt with this model; instead it has a timing chain which doesn’t need replacing. The car has been driven regularly, and until recently always stored in a garage at home and at work. The interior is in very nice shape and very clean. I took it in to a shop (P&N Automotive Services in Concord NH) a couple weeks ago and asked them to inspect the car as though I were a buyer. It passed everything tested as part of a NH inspection. They identified a chip in the windshield (not a crack), but said everything else looked good: belts, hoses, brakes, all excellent. Oil and fluids did not have any warning signs. If you would like to talk to the shop/mechanic, let me know and I’ll give you their contact info. They said it would be ok for potential buyers to talk to them. Within the last few years, we have replaced the shocks, the exhaust system, the battery, tires, and the alternator. This past fall the alternator failed, drained the car battery, and the car would not start. The shop told me that the drain on the battery weakened it, and we should probably replace it. The car has started fine after sitting for two weeks when we’ve had below 0 temps, but that is the only thing I know of that might need addressing soon. A few other things we’ve noticed over the years: the engine temperature gauge does not really work. It sometimes looks right, other times it just jiggles a bit and then rests as though the car is off. The only other thing that doesn’t work is the cigarette lighter. Occasionally, when the car is first started and cold and in drive, but at a standstill, the engine RPMs will fluctuate a bit. Putting the car in neutral or driving away will solve the problem. It’s done this for at least six years, so probably not a major concern. The headlights are not that bright. Nothing wrong with them, but compared to a new car they seem pretty dim. Some of the interior lights at night are also kind of dim. Beginning a few years ago, we needed to recharge the AC in the spring, and it was good until the next summer. In the spring of 2009 we had a different shop charge the AC, and it was good for both summers of 2009 and 2010. Not sure how it will be this year, might need recharging again (it’s not expensive, I think we paid about $70). The car comes with two sets of tires and wheels. The original wheels with snow tires are on the car now. An aftermarket set of wheels and all season tires are also included. It also comes with a set of tire chains for this car, unused. The snow tires are in excellent shape, and the all seasons are in good shape. The car has power locks, an automatic transmission, cd player, AC, accelerates well and is very smooth. We have the title in hand and two sets of keys. This is a very reliable model and our experience is consistent with other owners who have not had problems. If you do some internet research, you will see how highly regarded and reliable this car is considered. There are few to no rattles (only occasionally when cold or at a specific engine RPM). The KBB values are: trade in= $1,625; private party value= $2,435; suggested retail= $3,510. Local pickup only. I will not ship! If you would like to see the car and take it for a drive, contact me. Thanks!
