Vehicle Detail

I found this charming Mercedes resting peacefully in the hills surounding my house. The owner was an eccentric old fellow who was satisfied with letting the benz rest rather than repair. He had a steep left turn into his hillside driveway and had broken the steering box cranking the old car into its spot. He told a tale of having had to have the car towed 15 feet into his driveway after being unable to steer the imparied vehicle. He fired it up for me in place and gunned the engine with a big grin on his face. I promptly had the car towed to my local mechanic and he replaced the steering box and some tune up parts. It hums to a nice even idle but I am sure after all this time (5 yrs) off the road some more tune up business is in order. The body is in nice shape but there is a ruthless door ding on the front fender. It could be hammered out easily but I am not sure if there is access. The passenger side has some checking on the paint down low, so it was either repaired or sun bleached. There is some polishing and detailing still to be done but I had to give you something to do right? I like this car because the light blue paint job is quite unassuming. The sun roof is nice to have on a sunny day. It's definately a heavy car and the resilliance of the finish and drivetrain is a testimate to German engineering and durability. It starts up every time and there is a funny little button that was hidden to thwart would be thieves. The engine compartment is actually nice and clean for the age of the vehicle. The old timer who sold it to me said he had it for 20 years. He let his son-in-law use it for 5 years and then the son-in-law gave it back to him after it had reliably served him on his 50 mile round trip commute. I had originally bought this car to trade it to a guy but the trade fell through. I figured I'd enjoy using it for coffee and grocery runs, but now I'm just looking to recoupe my investment. I would love to put this car in your driveway and I have shipping connections that are reasonably priced. I have the title for the car and please ask me any questions or schedule a time to look at in person if you're local. Thanks for reading my ad and happy holidays. On Jan-16-11 at 12:32:49 PST, seller added the following information: Update: A young man in my neighborhood came by to look at this car. I ran it for a half hour straight and we checked out the car in detail. The stereo works, all the lights work except for the left side tail light. The sun roof works, the heater works, the air conditioning unit has been removed. The car as a whole surprised me as it's in good condition and I feel that it is a good value for the price.
