Vehicle Detail
This classy mercedes belonged to a portly lawyer who was out of work. He was a jolly fellow and ready to make deal. I had know about this car for over 10 years since it's not often you see a vintage 2 door benz sitting under a tree. I knocked loudly on the door and he ran down to answer a handful of questions. The price was right and a deal was struck without much thought. After towing this car home, it shined up quite nicely since it hadn't had a bath in many years. This is a very graceful and elegant model and I felt lucky to get this score. My neighbors have one that is a little older and has a fresh coat of paint. They cherish it and would not part with it without seeing some major greenbacks. The tree had preserved the benz during its long slumber and it was easy to tell there is plenty of car to be enjoyed here. Finishing up with a thorough wash, I plopped in a hot battery and squirted some juice in the carburator. The old benz grumbled to life without much struggle at all. It has been many years since the key had been turned so I was surprised. We had disconnected the fuel line from the tank because the gas smelled stale and this week I intend to clean the tank and install a new fuel pump. My partner feels like the pump is not working. There is something funky with the steering box and it doesn't crank all the way to the right. I just replaced one in my other car for about $350. Please check my other auction. I haven't had a chance to do much work to the engine but this week should be better. Please stay tuned to the auction as the week progresses. The interior is in ok shape but the portly lawyer had really squashed the front seat. There is also a jumble of wires for the power windows. The hub caps fit loosely and I don't want to lose any of them. I'm really just offering this up as an inexpensive project to an experienced restorer. I hope the benz finds a home but if it's used just for parts, I understand. I've got great shipping contacts and can get this car to you just let me know.
