Vehicle Detail
I am offering my 1961 Porsche 356 B coupe #113435 for sale. It is not running and in need of a complete restoration. The previous owner got the car running in 1988 then parked it for about 10 years. At that time it was pushed outside and there it sat until I bought it in February of this year. I purchased the car as a long term project. I have done no repairs but I now have other interests. The original color is Ruby Red. The interior is light brown leatherette. The mileage on the odometer shows 62,703. The interior will require complete restoration. It is light brown vinyl. The headliner has separated seams. The dash pad is gone. The original gauges are still present. I have done nothing with it since purchase. The body panels are stamped and original including the deck lid and hood. I have not taken off the door panels to check those numbers but there is no evidence they have been replaced. The gaps are very good all things considered. It does have front and rear bumpers. It has significant rust in the pan. The floors have been poorly repaired many years ago. It will require a complete pan. There is rust around the torsion tubes and the rear seat area. It doesn't appear to have any front end damage. There is a large dent on the passenger front fender as seen. The inside of the trunk has rust as seen. The battery box floor has been replaced. There is rust on both sides in the body seam that meets the front edge of the doors. The doors are rusty. The engine is the original 1600 Normal #603973 per COA . The original Zenith carbs are present. The engine turns over and is not locked. The transaxle is original per COA, #40435. I have not driven the car so I do not know the mechanical condition. I assume the engine and transaxle will require a rebuild. The gas tank is rusty. It is dated 9/60. A copy of the COA is included. The car has no options. It is a numbers matching ( engine, transaxle, hood and decklid) original coupe. This is a complete assembled car. It is missing the spare, door jamb trim plates and dash pad. The 4 wheels are matched and date code correct 9/60. I have an antique Kansas title that is clear. I have been an active member of the 356 Registry since the mid '70's. I have owned 356's since the early '70's. I should be an expert after all of this time but my memory limits me and I make no claim. If you are interested in this project, odds are you know more than I do. Ask any question and I will do my best to answer it honestly. I want the buyer to be happy with the purchase. This will be a major project. Not long ago this would have been a parts car. Maybe it still is. I will let the potential buyer make that decision. I have many photos and I am willing to take more. I will have photos posted on Photobucket. http://s389.photobucket.com/albums/oo333/brdstr/Porsche%20B%20T-5%20Coupe/ It will be available for inspection by appointment. I always encourage this. The car is sold “as is, where is” without guarantee written or implied. It is not drivable. The car will be picked up at my house located near Lawrence, Kansas. Thanks for your interest. Home phone 785-842-0227, is the best number to call. We are on central time. Cell 785-331-8989. I expect a $500 deposit through Pay-Pal within 24 hours and the balance paid within 5 days. I want the car picked up within 30 days of the end of the auction.
