Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is my beautiful 1967 Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider, or Duetto. This a NO Reserve auction, she WILL sell. This is a Euro car, built on July 14th and originally delivered in Germany on July 31st 1967, with gauges in Italian, and km/h speedometer. German language owners manual. As far as I can tell, car spent much of its life in Texas and California (I bought it in San Diego) and had minimal rust before my extensive restoration. This is a very nice driver condition car, pick her up and drive her home! I got the car in 2003, and did a bare metal restoration that was finished in 2005. This is a very solid vehicle. The restoration is starting to show some age, has some minor flaws in the paint by now, but still very, very nice. When I first got it, I had a lot of work done to the car, transmission rebuilt (about 7000 miles ago, shifts really smoothly), new clutch and clutch hydraulics, new motor mounts, gas tank fixed/sealed, radiator work, etc. The 2 liter engine runs very strong and sounds awesome. Took it to bare metal and floors had been previously patched, but were solid. Rocker panels were replaced. I have attached some pictures of the bare metal restoration. They show how little rust the car actually had....I have more if needed. At the time of restoration, new uncut dash was acquired (cut dash still available if you want it), dash top and knee pads were redone beautifully by just dashes and look immaculate. New rubber mats and carpet throughout, seats redone in black leather (not perfect, but looking good). New door panels, sun visors, rear drape, new heater fan, gauges restored (trip meter reset does not work though). All chrome redone, stainless steel polished, new tail lights. New original Nardi wheel. New headlight/indicator light switch, all new dash switches. New Carello headlight covers. New windshield rubber. New brake light switch. New 3 point automatic seat belts. New high quality customer cover. New plugs and plug wires. About two years ago, in installed a rebuilt alternator to replace the generator. New center muffler about a year ago, car sounds great with a stinger in the back. Recent work includes new front rotors and rebuilt calipers, new pads and hoses, packed bearings. Newly rebuilt Weber 27’s, jetted for 2 liter engine (yes, the engine is a two liter, runs very strong), new starter solenoid, Pertronix electronic trigger in original Bosch distributor. New original style stainless steel wiper blades, new tach cable. Headlight and starter relays installed. New oil/transmission/differential drain and fill plugs. New radiator hoses. Euro Stil-Auto six spoke wheels (could use refinishing). Original steel wheels with 2005 NOS hub caps also included. (one picture still has the OEM wheels on her) Keep in mind that this is a 43 year old car. Although it is in very nice shape, it’s also got some flaws. I’m trying to list the most obvious ones. Top is OK, but not great. Front rubber has worn some, there’s a small tear of about 1 inch, and the new rear window does not seem to be sown in properly, it looks a little loose...It also lacks the headliner. I hardly ever used the top, as this is my good weather fun car, but the top probably keeps you as dry as any Alfa top if you get caught in an unexpected rain storm. Windshield is showing age. Is chipped in one spot (was there when I bought it in 2003, and has a scratch from a wiper…but it’s serviceable. Paint has some flaws, as I mentioned before, there are some small rock chips, and when I cleaned her the other day, I found some small spots where I can see some slight bubbling and paint cracking, likely due to poor surface prep in a spot. No windshield washer bag. Except for some minor things like the trip meter reset, the back-up and interior light, everything that I can think of works, including the cigarette lighter. I have no keys with the locks, but I never want to lock the car. I have spare door handles that do have keys, if interested. Currently the car has a start button, as I’ve found that the old ignition switches as well as new after market ones, keep failing. I do have a brand new one in box that will come with the car, I can install it for you if you prefer. There are two picture of the engine bay. One as it currently sits, and one that I took a few years ago, after a recent polishing job. Many people gave me flack that it was too shiny, so I let it get dull again. If you prefer the shiny look, I'll clean it up for you :-) Please note that the "shiny picture" was taken before I finally found the correct fuse box cover, cross over air tube hose clamps and air plenum wing nuts. If someone in Texas buys this car I may throw in the 67 license plates that are in really nice shape. THIS DUETTO IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS. No warranty. Pre-purchase inspections are welcomed and highly encouraged. I can drive the car to your mechanic within reasonable distance of Austin, TX. I’ll gladly assist with shipping arrangements made by the buyer. I can deliver to any pick up point with in 100 miles or so. You might consider driving it home though. I drove it home close to 1400 miles after I bought it in San Diego, and it is in much better shape now!
