In an effort to ensure both buyer and seller are happy, please read entire ad and ask all questions before bidding. Overall this vehicle is in very good condition. We bought the vehicle new in 2001. However, a growing family has resulted in us needing a larger car. It has been lovingly maintained and driven with care by an adult. The interior and exterior are in excellent condition, with only the minor blemishes one would reasonably expect from 10 years of regular use. The radio antenna is a bit worn, and one little ding that is hardly noticeable is at the right rear fender (please see pictures). A recent oil change and inspection indicated that all mechanical systems function as they should. No engine or transmission issues. The brakes and tires are in great condition. We also just replaced the entire exhaust from the catalytic converter back. The converter was replaced at a separate time (at 45,000 miles). All oil changes and scheduled maintenance has been done at factory suggested intervals. The only known issue with this car is that the battery intermittently drains. The car will start with no problem for a week or more, and then one morning it won’t. We have replaced the battery and have had the charging system inspected, but we have not had the time to figure out where the short is. Our local mechanic suggested that we take it to Volkswagen because he did not have access to all the wiring diagrams, and we do not have a dealership in our town. If you have experience sorting this type of problem out, or have the time to have someone else fix it, you could get a great car at a great price. It could be something as simple as a glove box light not going off, but we’re just not sure. Our starting price for this auction and lack of a reserve reflects this known issue.
