Vehicle Detail
I bought this 1987 928 S4 in Texas (DFW area) in 2006. The car was originally bought in Arizona and brought to Dallas Texas some years later. It has always been in a dry climate and originally had window tinting put on in Arizona; the tinting is still in perfect shape and has kept the interior very nice. This car also has the optional rear air conditioning unit. When I bought the car in 2006 it had not been run for a number of months as it had a engine fire at 56,000 miles. (see picture) Although some components were damaged there was no structural damage to the car and there was no major damage to the engine, drive train or interior. Most of the damage was to plastic articles in the engine bay. Everything has been repaired to as new condition or better; a lot of time was spent to make this car better than when it came from the factory. The paint from the doors forward was professionally redone to match original color with a basecoat clear coat system and polished. It matches perfectly and all the paint looks fantastic. I owned a Porsche repair shop many years ago when I was a young man, and I restore Porsches for fun these days. I closed my shop when I was offered a job to work as a mechanic on the Space Shuttle in 1985. I have worked in the defense industry ever since. I am currently a Quality Engineer for Northrop Grumman, a defense contractor. I currently own three Porsches; an 81 911SC, a 86 944 turbo (my daily driver), and my 87 928 S4. My son and I decided to buy and restore this 928 S4 as a project to work together. My son at the time was studying for his A & P (airframe and power plant) license. We worked together restoring her; he has helped me with many of my Porsche projects. My son, now a licensed aircraft mechanic works on the Joint Strike Fighter program. I mention all this to put you at ease and in the hopes that you will agree that we are qualified mechanics. I believe we are well qualified to have restored this car. We have all the tools, factory manuals, knowledge and experience for the car. It was a fun and very successful project! We performed an excellent restoration of this vehicle and spared no expense to make it right again. Clean Title- Car was never a salvage vehicle, I bought the car from a private owner with a normal Texas title, it has since been retitled to here in Mississippi. Car was originally bought in Arizona and then moved to Dallas, Texas and two years ago I moved to Mississippi, where the car is garaged full time. Lifetime warm dry climate. No rust. Very nice and in good condition, well done window tinting – Meets legal requirements The car rides and performs exceptionally. This car is a real joy to drive, and there is no required maintenance due. Definitely the best handling Porsche at high speed I have ever driven, Scary stable at 140. Porsche advertised this vehicle as able to do 170. I believe them, but haven’t proved it, I would like to keep my license. The car has no dents, no door dings and no scratches, the body is straight & paint is a near 10. The paint is original factory color called Diamond Blue Metallic. Mechanically the car has low miles and is in exceptional condition. I make sure to run the car every few weeks. but it sits in the garage 90% of the time since I’ve owned it. Beautiful dark blue leather interior, dark blue carpet, dark blue leather seats. The interior is full leather and the far rear side window panels are not badly warped like so many, this car had professional window tinting put on the windows at an early age, and tinting is still in excellent condition. The dash and pod are showing some small cracks. The drivers seat has two very small tears, overall the interior is excellent condition as you can see in the pictures. Options of interest Car has rear air option. Car is a 4 speed automatic, and has optional Limited Slip (LSD) Differential. 8 Speaker Blaupunkt CD stereo Sunroof These $70,000 cars came very well loaded, both seats have electric 8 way adjustable controls The car as you can see is in exceptional condition, and performs great. I am a picky Porsche owner and prefer everything to be perfect. There are some defects in the car that still need to be addressed to make it perfect. They are: Brakes work perfectly but anti lock system isn’t functioning. There is a crack in the dash by the passenger door that someone tried to repair that still needs to be worked by a qualified vinyl repair tech. (see picture). A beautiful car, in great condition, with low miles, and all maintenance up to date, this 928 S4 will make someone a very happy Porsche owner. This car is for sale locally, I reseve the right to stop the listing at any time.
