Vehicle Detail
1989 E30 BMW 325i convertible. Was daily driver for 6+ years, over which about 50000 miles were put on the car. Recently purchased new car and no longer have any use for what we now call our "summer" car. This is a beautiful car, but we just can't afford to keep it in addition to our other vehicles. Clear title, ready to sign over. The car runs great. The interior is black leather. The front seats are heated and were recently rewrapped with fresh black leather (professionally done). Aftermarket CD player. On-Board-Computer works great. Heat works. A/C blows warm air-- We think it just needs to be recharged, but have not bothered with it since the day it was purchased in 2003 (didn't need AC with convertible). Tires are in great condition. Genuine BMW wheels. New head, a few new valves, new timing belt (about six months ago, professionally done). New set of plugs. New fuel filter. Changed the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever came first. Replaced a couple vacuum hoses. Recently soldered new bulbs to the On-Board-Computer lightboard--display is very bright again. New passenger-side control arm/ball-joint assembly (ball-joint was going bad, professionally done). Recent front-end alignment (professionally done). The clear-coat is nearly gone from the hood. When cold, the transmission seems to stick in first and especially second gear longer than usual (when upshifting to second and third, respectively). Shifts fine through the other gears. Once warm, this effect lessens. This is the original transmission, as far as we know, so this is likely an indication of upcoming required work. Dash has a straight crack on passenger side. Auction includes Haynes repair manual, new-in-box distributor rotor, new oil filter, and six new fuel injector o-rings. Vehicle was rear-ended at low speed (<<25 mph) in 2005. Damage was cosmetic to the rear-end and was repaired professionally. I'm sure I left out details, so please send us a message if you have any questions at all. The reserve is set low, and the car is sold as-is. Please note that this vehicle is currently located in HAMPTON, VA. We are only accepting local pick-up, but if the seller would like to independently arrange shipping, he/she may do so at his/her own time and expense. We require a $100 non-refundable down payment within 24 hours of auction close, and we require the remaining balance be paid via Cash or Cashier's Check (certified from US bank) within 7 days from auction close. On Dec-14-10 at 19:30:43 PST, seller added the following information: In my effort to describe the car as best as possible, I'd like to add additional information to the listing: The rear bottom corner of the plastic window in the convertible top is beginning to pull away from the fabric (this is hard to see in the picture). It has been this way for as long as I can remember and has not allowed any noticeable leaking. The plastic framing around the small handle that releases the convertible top is cracked (interior, behind driver's seat). This does not affect the release or lowering of the top--it still functions fine. The small handle that releases the lid of the storage compartment for the top is just wobbly. I have a new piece of trim that goes around the frame to conceal it, but the plastic frame itself is cracked from years of use. Since I have told those who have asked, we have set the reserve at $1499.00...It shouldn't matter too much now that it has been met. I noticed that the clear coat is just beginning to peel off of the top edge of the front driver's side body panel, in addition to the hood. Lastly, regarding my comments about the transmission--I currently drive the car to work (~20 mile round-trip) once or twice a week to circulate the fluids. I have no hesitation taking the car for spins around town. However, with the odd transmission behavior when cold, I can make no guarantees--I'm not a mechanic. If you happen to be in the area and would like to stop by and see the car before the auction ends, please send me a message with your number.
