Vehicle Detail
1966 Volkswagen Bug In 1966 Volkswagen made a lot of changes to the wonderful world famous Volkswagen Bug. It had a new faster motor than previous years with a new 1300 CC 50hp engine, this was a one year only motor for the beloved beetle. The 1300 Badge was added to the rear decklid to show it’s new power house. Slotted wheels were introduced to help with the cooling of the drum brakes and the new Flat hubcap design was now in place. One key was now used to operate both the doors and the ignition and an air vent was added to the center of the dash to help with de-misting. A new safety feature for Volkswagen was also introduced….the Emergency Flasher now mounted on the dashboard. The dimmer switch moved from the floor to the turn signal lever and the windshield wipers now parked to the left of the windshield. The last and best safety feature was that the front seats now locked into place so that in the event of a crash they would not come forward and provided extra support! This wonderful blast from the past original style bug was purchased new in Ontario, CA at Woolverton Volkswagen at 515 North Mountain Street Ontario, CA 91762. Later in life it wound up in northern California in a little town called Oroville. It was kept in the garage and only used as a tow vehicle behind a retired couple and their motor home. It was fitted with a custom mounted tow hitch in front, a special little holder that kept it in neutral and tow lights on the back. It was cared for and serviced for most of it’s life at ORO DAM Motors in Oroville, CA. The car still features all the original volkswagen parts including the ultra rare one year only decklid for 66. It wears it’s original seat covers although a little old a few tears and dirty you can see that this car was cared for as there are not many Volkswagens today that still wear the original seat covers. The door panels and headliner also appear to be in very good original condition, however the carpet at some time was replaced. This is a true California car, there is no major rust in the floors, heater channels or any where under the car, there a few small bubbles starting to form in the paint, but it doesn’t distract from the wonderful little car with so much character and personality. I can’t find any damage at all in the rear, the front may have had a little bump at one point, but I have a feeling that it’s just from the tow bar of the car, most people probably wouldn’t notice it, but being the true enthusiast I am of these little cars I’ve looked it over real careful. The car runs and drives great under the little motor and the lights shine nice since the car still sports it’s original 6 volt wiring system. The car has 5 very nice newer tires on it and is ready to drive or be towed anywhere. I’d love to see it behind another motor home where it has spent so many years of it’s life already. A few fun facts about the car is that it does come with an ORIGINAL EMPI Carriage steering wheel the owner said that it has been on there as long as he can remember and some EMPI door seal guards as well. The bug does have all three original books that came with the car in the original cover as well. See the pictures below for more details. I am alway happy to work with international buyers. You can see from my 100% positive feedback that what you see is what you'll recieve a great little bug at great value, you won't find another for what my low reserve is set to, but of course for those who don't like to wait I have added a higher buy it now for what I still think is a great deal for a stock 1966 Volkswagen! On Nov-28-10 at 21:49:28 PST, seller added the following information: DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ARE COMMITED TO BUY AND FOLLOW THRU WITH THE PURCHASE...On Nov-29-10 at 19:40:39 PST, seller added the following information: I would appreciate it if any buyers with under 25 positive Feedback please contact me first before bidding. I will cancel bids made by anyone with a zero feedback or multiple negative feedback. Sorry new folks but EBAY does NOTHING to protect sellers...I have had multiple zero feedback people not pay on high dollar purchases and I'd rather sell this car for a lesser amount to someone who is going to pay than someone who will not!!!
