Vehicle Detail
What I have for you’re here is a nice starting point for a worthy restoration. I found this Triumph parked next to his brother in green. His brother had new paint however and was in stunning condition. Talk about green with envy. As I stared at the two examples it was easy to see why this model is highly appreciated. Shortly, a Japanese man came outside to run down his knowledge of the history of this TR4A. An old man had given it to the owner of pricey body shop as long as the shop owner kept it. When the old man passed the car was passed on. It had landed here at the man’s house where it had sat awaiting resto. The man was relocating out of the states and just blew it out. I looked at it for 5 minutes, struck a deal, and called Tow Mario. I called my partner Chatman and told him the good news and asked him to receive the little red sports car. I was going out to fish and chips to celebrate. He was amazed at my purchase and we set about vacuuming out snails, dust and leaves. She shined right up so I hope you enjoy the pictures. There is some rust on the battery tray and some bubbles on the body. The floor boards and trunk appear solid; however the undersides of the rear quarters will need some fabrication. The transmission feels very tight and good. The engine feels locked up tight and that’s no good. It appears the head was pulled off but then reinstalled for some reason. There is a box of odds and ends which includes the side blinker and a couple dozen crucial pieces of the puzzle. The front bumper is also present but has been welded in the middle. It is a very odd repair, so I would get a new front bumper. All in all, I was very pleased to have been lucky enough to score this red convertible. I think you too would be pleased because it’s presentable enough not to peeve your significant other significantly. There is light at the end of this tunnel. Some creative body work is in order and I figure the engine is coming out for a redo. She’s a good little ship, just needs a new captain. Regards, Harris
