Vehicle Detail

1997 Suzuki Bandit 1200S (GSF 1200 S) I have put more work into making this bandit an insanely fast torque machine that will absolutely eat up highway miles, even with two up, than I care to admit. GET READY FOR A LOT OF INFO AND HOPEFULLY ANSWERS TO ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS. List of Upgrades: Corbin Seat (God its comfy, even on long distances $450 new, and it still looks fantastic). Custom welded mirror mounts with the new bandit mirrors (For mirrors you can see something other than your shoulders with, NO other Gen 1 bandit has this). Blacked out D&D Exhaust system. Custom clip ons. Holeshot Stage 1 Jet Kit. (Better breathing needs more fuel) K&N Air Filter. K&N Gold Oil filter. NEW Bridgestone Battlax BT106 Triple compound rear tire. (Almost guaranteed to wear round, even with daily highway commuting). NEW Michelin Pilot Road 2 Front tire (Great stopping power, softer than the Bridgestone in the center for more grip). High output headlight bulb. Custom billet rear-sets with fixed knurled pegs and built in urethane sliders. Billet knurled passenger footpegs in red. Niagara Racing Covers: Cast aluminum bullet proof cam covers, so tough you won't need sliders. Holeshot Racing Pair System Removal Kit (NO evap or charcoal canister= light weight and less maintenance, this was a california bike originally). Upgraded rear suspension: Remote reservoir, fully adjustable shock from a GSXR 1100, fully rebuilt by Race Tech, with race tech oil and installed with custom milled aluminum spacers. Makes the ride as stiff or plush as you want it, 5 clicks to the right for two up, five clicks to the left for racing stiffness). Rebuilt front suspension: NEW seals and sliders, NEW Suzuki OEM 10wt fork oil, polished fork legs. Custom made Tail-light with built in turn signals. Flush mount front signals. Smoke windscreen. DID X-Ring chain. New sprockets. Recent change of all hydraulic fluids from brakes to clutch. Led bolt plate lights (For passing inspection, look trick too) Trimmed undertail. NEW spark plugs. NEW yuasa battery. Silver reflective heat tape wrapped fuel line and heat insulated fuel tank (To avoid fuel vaporization on those triple digit Texas summer days, runs cleanly all the way to a bone dry tank at 150 miles. Texas touring bikers will know why this is important.) THE BAD: Gotta be honest to keep my karma levels high. The bike has been down at low speed once 3 years ago. The left cam cover has some scratches because of this that I am not too keen on buffing out. The NRC covers are really thick and I could probably just grind it pretty, but the more material they have the better for protection purposes. The fairing has been painted since then, it was red, now it is black with a red frame. I think it looks pretty cool. There is a scratched up spot on the frame where my boot wore it pretty heavily over time, and another where the previous owner removed a sticker with a razor blade (It looked good for a long time but finally the thinner paint wore enough to create some spots). Photos posted. I had it checked top to bottom by my mechanic and he said it was in good shape. EVERY OTHER PART HAS BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED. Except the bar ends, I just took them off. New ones are cheap, used are cheaper. Mine have been welded to an art project. This bike has 40,000 MILES. That is why all the fluids and the rear shock are new. It handles better than it did at 10,000 when I bought it. WAY BETTER. But it is getting to be time to replace the clutch. It is wearing, I can tell this because in 5th gear it gets a little slow to respond to quick throttle changes. You can ride this bike till it actually wears out and never notice unless you are really pushing it at very high speed. If you are commuting or touring you may not even notice it. Just a caveat, likely it will need a new one before 50,000 hits, they are not overly expensive $200 tops. I would buy the Holeshot® Bandit 1200 Clutch Kit.The seals around two of the bolts on the head are recently wearing out. They weep a tiny amount of oil. I find the bike is never low at oil change time, but if I don't wash it it builds up a very thin film after 1000 miles or so around the bolt heads on two of the bolts. Check out bikebandit.com for the part number 1025459 (469907-001). They are $3.15 each. You have a set or allen keys right? You're set. I am selling this bike to make room in the garage for my SV650 supersport project and am torn up inside about it. I love it but I must set it free. Be good to her and she will treat you well. DELIVERY: I will deliver this bike to within a reasonable distance for the price of fuel for myself and my Jeep on the way there and back (I will provide receipts after if you like). This may be a lot or a little depending on how far from Dallas you live. If you live really far away I will probably not deliver it. Message me, we'll talk. Are you near a cool place to go camping or a racing event? DID I NOT SAY IT WAS A LOT OF INFO? HAPPY TO ANSWER ANYTHING NOT TALKED ABOUT HERE, but really, what could I have missed?
