Vehicle Detail
Hello to all. After a whole lot of thought, I have finally decided to sell my little F-150. I have a biased opinion of it, but I feel it's as sharp as anything that I have ever seen in a 1996 model, anywhere. It was a (1) owner truck before I purchased it. I had always wanted a 1996 model due to the fact that they were the last of the (to me anyway) pretty, old school Ford pickups. I had to look a long time before I found one that was not beat to death and had a million miles on it. This truck was in very nice original condition, it even had the Ford brand new smell it in and it still does for that matter. It has never, ever been a smokers truck. It was starting to show it's age, paint wise. It's a beautiful shade of Pacific green (original color) and it really pops when the sun hits it. I keep and restore my own vehicles with my own hands and my own tools at our restoration center, here in Kentucky. We do quality restoration work with no exceptions and this truck is one of them. I had this truck for a year or so and one day I got to looking at it closely and checked my work load schedule at the shop and then decided to tear into this little beast. I took this truck apart down to the bare bones and flew in on it. I removed the bed, bumpers, all trim item's, door handles, glass, mouldings, lights inner fenders, everything, you name it, all bagged, tagged and restored. We then sanded it down to the bare steel, inspected it from top to bottom and started back on it. I spent over 6 months blocking and sanding it. It had a very nice, rust free body to start with so it was pleasure to work on good, original metal. The frame is in perfect condition. It is all original and has not been painted or undercoated. I don't like to see that stuff on original trucks, so it did not get any of that mess :) It has the best paint and materials that money can buy from the bottom to the top, make no mistake about that. The paint work cost me over $1500 in materials, alone. It is a $4,000 base coat, clear coat finish on it and it is very, very nice. Everybody that sees it is just floored by it's condition and I mean everyone. I get comments on it every day. After is was refinished, I put Ford NOS mouldings back on it and they cost me $101.00 each, just for the (4) wheel opening mouldings, alone. It has new glass, bumper and new side mouldings, as well. I partially rebuilt the front end with new ball joints, added new Rancho RS 5000 shocks, Rancho steering shock, new Ultra aluminum 160 wheels, Rough Country 1.5" front leveling springs and all new BFG all terrain TA tires. It has a new battery, oil and filter change and a full transmission servicing. It runs out just perfect and it's a lot of fun to drive and you get a lot of question's and comments on it. I'm getting older and I just don't need it for much of anything other than to ride around in it once or twice a week. It's just too nice of a truck just to sit around and I need to work on my shop buildings and my house, so something's got to go. I cannot sell my beater truck so my little F-150 is next up. As you may gather, I love my truck, but it's got to go if I want to get my property in order. I think that you may be able to check it out in these pictures and tell what you need about it to make a bid to own it, if you'd like to have it. I'm as straight a person as you'll ever meet, so don't be afraid to come get this little rascal. This truck is not high for what it is and it's not all that cheap, either. It's priced cheaper that most of the nicer ones that I have seen on here. I'm available to answer any question that you may have in a timely manner, so if you do have a question, just ask away. You'll be treated great and I love to talk :) If you're the winner at the auction's end, I'd like the truck picked up within 14 business days upon the auction's conclusion. Take care now and may God bless you all.On Nov-05-10 at 19:56:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello again. Wow, I have had a bunch of e-mails on this truck and I have to admit, I am stunned by this much interest in it and I am very, very appreciative of all the kind comments. A lot of the e-mails are really dealing with the same kind of question's and I guess that I should have been more clear in the ad copy. I'm going to go over the most asked one's here, right now for everyone. First of all, this truck was 100% rust free, inside and out, body wise, when I started it's cosmetic restoration. You could not ask for a better one to start with, period. After I stripped it down, I took a high intensity lamp and looked deep into the insides of the front fenders, cab corner and doors. Inside of all these areas are just as clean as the outside, 100% rust free. I had the bed (by itself) up on our lift and I checked deep inside and up over the rear wheel arch on the bed and it, to, is 100% rust free over these wells. Clean as a pin. I pressure washed all of these areas and let it all dry out in our shop for a week, then I corrosion treated them 3 times over the period of a week just to make sure this little truck would last me for a long time as I had absolutely no plans to ever sell it until just recently. The carpet needs a bit more cleaning as they got it dirty last week at the transmission shop when they serviced it, so that's why it appears a bit unkempt. Now for the big one.......the reserve is very reasonable. Fact is, it's getting in the ballpark on the first day of the auction! I know you will be happy with that. It's nothing compared to the truck's condition. You know what a dealer would ask you for it. That 65,000 is it's actual mileage. It is a loaded up truck to include tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows and locks, power mirrors and a nice factory stereo, With a bit of work and some serious detailing, you could show this truck easily at the summer car shows and do quite well with it, I would imagine. Thanks again......it is surely appreciated. On Nov-11-10 at 06:38:16 PST, seller added the following information: The truck has the smaller 302, 5.0 liter v-8 engine in it. It runs like new and will from now on. I wanted eveyone to know that I took the truck back to the alignment shop yesterday just to make sure that the alignment was ok due to the springs that we installed to level it. I noticed that the steering gear box was seeping a little out of the seal. That wouldn't do. I installed a brand new steering gear box on it and while I had it apart, I opted for a new tie rod end, drag link bar, and new alignment collars sleeves to put it back to almost OEM spec's with that leveling kit we installed. With all that stuff added it drives better than it did and it drove great before. Anyway, I spent over $500.00 on it just yesterday, but it's right on the money now. By the way, when I pulled up in it, the employee's came out and checked it over top to bottom. You should have heard them :) Man, that thing is bad! and so forth. I just stood there smiling and watch them. I thought that it was pretty cool. Thanks again for all the kind comments. I have had a ball with it.
