Vehicle Detail

This 280 was purchased in 1972 by the owner of a prominate local timber family. The family owned the car for several years then sold it to a trusted employee who was charged with the upkeep of their fleet of company vehicles. This gentleman kept the car until his death 6 years ago when it was sold to his son's best friend. I am selling the car for this gentlemen as he has too many toys and his wife wants her spot back in the garage. The car has been lovingly cared for by all three owners and it shows. The paint is still very glossy and the interior still smells like new. The Good: this car looks like new when you walk up you would swear its 1972 all over again. The chrome is near perfect, the paint has a like new appearance, the interior wood, leather and trim all look amazing, the original radio and accessories are all still in place. Even the original trunk mat and floor mats are there. The car has the optional 4.5 litre V-8 and it runs great, it actually has a slight rumble like the muscle cars of the era-just a little more refined. The rear brakes and lines were just replaced and they work great as well. The AC blows cold and the sunroof opens with the touch of a button. The central locking system functions well and the tires look to be pretty new. The not so good: The drivers window will not go up all the way, it stops about 1" before the top. The floor mat on the drivers side has a small tear where a seam has come unravled. There is a small scratch on the drivers side front fender and a small ding in the hood where somebody shut the hood with something setting on the air cleaner. The front of the car has a few small rock chips as well as a small chip in the windshield. I have tried to show these items in the pictures but if you want to see more of any specific area I am happy to take more. I have driven this car from Eugene to Albany and once to Salem (about 125 miles total) and it drives better then my wife's nearly new Mecerdes C class and feels more powerful as well. This car has a few flaws but could be a show winner with very little work. If you are looking for an early 280 with unheard of low miles this is your car. I will deliver the car anywhere within 100 miles of my home or to the dock of any delivery service in that range. Otherwise delivery is the responsibility of the buyer. The winning bidder has 48 hours to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 and the balance to follow within 7 business days. I will then mail the title and bill of sale and take care of above mentioned delivery details in as prudent manner as possible. The car is being stored inside and will remain that way untill it leaves. I have represented the car as best I can however I am happy to answer any questions you may have. After talking to my Mercedes mechanic and looking at several other similar (however not as nice) cars I have set what I feel is a fair to more than fair residual price. Thanks and happy bidding!
