The tranny is a rebuilt installed at purchase. I've run it at freeway speeds routinely. She's a strong runner:) She's not a camper. With the middle seat and full length back seat, she's a true station wagon. The interior is very nice. The only thing I would do would be to repaint the brown. Comes with the factory and year specific Z bed seats. They fold down independently of each other. Update - 9/19/2010. Freshly tuned-up and new rear brake lines put on her by Wagenschmitt VW Service. I drove the bus today from Snohomish to Cle Elum (that's over the Cascade Mountain range) and back without a whimper. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to Cali! 68 MPH on the level, with pedal left, and 50 up the steeps (I didn't want to push it). No oil used.
