Vehicle Detail
Hello folks: Up for bid is a 1978 Pontiac Bonneville coupe in original condition. I bought this Pontiac about a year ago and have enjoyed taking it out on the weekends since then. I've also driven on a couple long trips with it. I'm ready for something new, so this nice Bonneville is ready for a new owner. This Pontiac was purchased by the proverbial little old lady in Feb. 1978 from Jim Salerno Pontiac, Randolph, NJ. She owned it the next 31 years until I bought it. It has been garaged its entire life. The lady stopped driving about 1993 and the car sat until family came to visit and then it would be taken to the service station down the street and serviced for them to use during the stay. This is a very uncommon Bonneville, because it does not have air-conditioning or power accessories. It has a green vinyl interior and F41 firm ride and handling suspension. Overall this Bonneville is in great shape for it's age. The miles are verifiable by the large stack of maintenance receipts and family members. Mechanically the car is fine.It is a 301 Pontiac w/TH350. It runs great and I've done nothing to it but service it. After getting it here I had to go through the brakes, including calipers, master cylinder and rear cylinders and shoes. I also installed 2 new front tires and a complete exhaust system. The car drives very nicely, as it should for the mileage. The front end is tight, and the only thing I can foresee it needing is 2 more tires for the rear, because they are out of round from sitting. Cosmetically, this Pontiac is in good condition. It does show some age in some areas, which I will detail: Paint appears original everywhere, but there are spots it's chipping from wear. Emblems are like new, glass is perfect, chrome ranges from mostly excellent to "fair" on the rear bumper and pot-metal taillight trim. Hubcaps are like new, but one is incorrect. There is evidence of a small sideswipe on the RH side, I believe they said it was the garage door. There are no mentionable rust issues underneath at all. Outside there is a surface patch on the driver door and miniscule spots where paint has chipped. Inside is also in good shape. The dash, seats, instruments etc are like new, no fading of any kind. It does need a headliner replacement, and carpet(the original is faded and dirty). The lower rear cushion is worse for the wear due to the lady taking her German Shepherd with her I'm told. Trunk is nice. To sum up, this a very solid, original Bonneville and I bought it specifically because it is not common to find a base model like this. The possibilities with this car are huge. In addition, this car has it's entire life documented. This is a no-reserve auction, bid to win. I require a $250 deposit via USPS Money Order no later than 7 business days from auction end. This item is located in North Alabama 30 miles south of Huntsville and can be driven back to your destination without issue. Please let me know if there is more info to provide, I will be happy to. Thanks and good luck.
