Vehicle Detail
Hello folks: Up for bid is a 1996 Ford F-350 crew-cab XL w/ diesel engine and 5 speed trans. I bought this earlier in the summer because I was between trucks and I like Fords. I've gotten excellent service out of it, but I'm relocating to an area soon where I will have difficulty parking a vehicle this large. This truck is in overall good condition. It appears to be a fleet vehicle, because there are shadows of DOT numbers on the sides, and at one point there appears to have been a light bar of some type mounted across the top. This is a 7.3L powerstroke diesel, 5-speed trans and 4:10 rear axle. I'm not that familiar with these engines, but it seems to run pretty good with a LOT of power. There are no leaks, excess smoke or strange noises. The turbo seems to work well. Clutch, trans, brakes all work well, although the shifter is sloppy. Front-end is pretty good and it drives well, but I do hear a random clunk occasionally going over bumps. What I know it needs mechanically: It for sure needs glow plugs. It will start easily during hot weather, but on cool or damp days it needs to be plugged in. Otherwise it's hard to start and runs rough for a while(no excess smoke). There is an exhaust leak in the area between the turbo and the converter, but it's not involving the turbo itself. The air conditioning is non-op, although I will see if I can charge it this week. Cosmetically, this F350 looks typical for it's age and mileage and assumed usage. The tailgate is bent and must be opened manually from the inside of it. The front bumper is warped due to running into something as the vehicle history notes. Brackets etc are good. The grill is loose, and there is the aforementioned lightbar marks on the top. No rust issues. The inside is strictly work truck level in fairly good condition. The dash is cracking and the driver seat area shows wear. Otherwise everything functions as it should. Other things to note: This truck has 6 new tires. It is equipped with a reciever hitch and also a gooseneck along with a trailer brake controller. I did an oil and filter, and fuel system service this summer and it hasn't had that many miles since. In summation, this is a very good work truck for the right person. It isn't perfect but I am starting bidding at a level to compensate. Keep in mind that I am not an expert on these trucks but I've attempted to provide a detailed description of this vehicle. PLEASE VISIT WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/KJM1983 TO VIEW VIDEOS DEMONSTRATING THIS TRUCK. This vehicle will need to be picked up at my location in North Alabama about 30 miles southeast of Huntsville. I require a $250 deposit via USPS money order unless you feel you can get here within a week or so to pick it up. Please note that the winning bidder will need to make arrangements to pick this item up on a weekday please. I can work with you to help facilitate that. This is a no-reserve auction...bid to win. I reserve the right to cancel bids with zero feedback. Please ask any questions, but I do not end auctions early. Thanks and good luck!
