Vehicle Detail
This is being relisted because the winner of the previous auction (glhawkins) backed out on me 15 minutes after winning the auction without seeing the car. He had zero feedback but was only bidding on TA projects in this area so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Here is his bid history. He claimed that he bid on another car as the reason for backing out. As you can see from the following, this isn't true: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=glhawkins&completed=1&all=1&rows=50&sort=7&_rdc=1 I'm giving the additional details because I don't want anyone thinking that I bid this thing up. I want to sell it and never interfere with my auctions. If you were watching the auction before, please read carefully, as there have been some changes on what is included. This auction is for my 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Fisher T-Top Project Car. I intended to build this into a Bandit clone. I was planning to build using the 400 and Turbo 350 listed in my other auctions. I just finished my 1968 Mustang Bullitt clone and I have decided not to build this one. I am very experienced with bodywork and can assure you that this is a very solid project. This one is an original BLACK on BLACK (19L/19U) car. I have not run a PHS on it and don't plan to since I wasn't going to restore to original. The previous owner had the build sheet but lost it and told me that it was not an SE. It has a clear Ohio title in my name. This is a GREAT foundation for a project. Bodywise, it is about as good as you will find for a 77-78 Trans Am project in the Midwestern US. When I got it, the only damage was in the tail panel. This has all been welded up and just needs filled and painted. The trunk floor, quarters, wheelhouses and floors are all original and rust free with the exception of a 2" x 2" area that has been welded up on the passenger floor. The only other area worth mentioning is that someone has added a 4 speed hump to the floor. I was planning to weld it up and use an automatic, but have left it in, in case someone wants to run a 4 speed in it. The subframe, firewall and front fenders are rust free as well. There are subframe connectors installed that look great. The rear frame rails and areas that typically rust where the springs mount are also rust free and in excellent shape. On the passenger quarter panel, it looks like there is some repaired collision damage. The front half of the quarter has been spliced in. I didn't do it, but it looks good enough that I planned to finish the bodywork on this area. With a little filler, it should look fine. Also, as I mentioned, the tail panel has areas that have been welded up and just need filled and finished. Both doors have minor rust on the rear lower corners and should be easily repairable Both doors are power windows and have glass installed. The hood that is on the car has a repairable dent on the left driver's edge. I'll have a rust free hood posted with a Buy It Now when the auction ends. Mechanically, it has a steering column, dash in poor condition, power steering box, front brakes with what look like relatively new brake lines. The rear axle is a disc brake unit with a third member of unknown ratio. The rear brake calipers and hardware are missing. As you can see from the photos, it has a set of Pontiac Rally wheels on it. As I mentioned, I have been collecting parts for building this into a Bandit clone. Following are the parts that will be included (all shown in photos): Front seats - tan with tracks, need recovered, no backs Wiring harness still installed Automatic brake pedal Rear seats (tan, will need recovered) Upper sail panel interior pieces (black, excellent condition) Lower spoiler assembly. It looks like it's from a 1979. Needs work but should be serviceable Rear glass Side glass All stainless weatherstrip retainers are installed T-Tops are in good shape and aren't all torn up at the inner tabs. They both need new plastic inserts. 1978 Lower quarter interior panels (white - will need dyed), good condition with nice ashtrays Tan kick panels for non A/C car. Decent condition, one has the trim piece that goes up the door broken off. A lower dash pieces and glovebox doors Instrument cluster, cosmetically good, unknown working condition Secondary gauge cluster, cosmetically good, unknown working condition Interior A/C heater box. Complete. A/C evaporator had ends cut off. Blower motor and heater core unknown condition Defroster duct, good condition, no cracks The cardboard from the headliner is included as a pattern to cut a new headliner. Most exterior stainless trim is included. Upper shaker assembly. Many holes have been unprofessionally drilled in the vent area. I was planning on cutting this out and installing the screens available on eBay. Black automatic console - good condition Turbo 350 Transmission - Removed from a 1980 Turbo T/A that was parted due to a bad turbo I had far more than 24 pictures to post. All were uploaded to the following photobucket account so that you can see what you are bidding on. There are photos of the underside of the trunk floor (gas tank has been removed), wheelhouses and underside of the car is shown. Many more pictures than shown here. http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk59/douggla/78TA/ This is a great opportunity to get a nice start on a Bandit T/A project. It's rare to find a project not needing floors, quarters and trunk floors replaced. This is a very solid project. I'm selling with no reserve. If you are a zero feedback bidder, please contact me for approval BEFORE bidding. If you choose to bid without receiving approval, your bid will be immediately removed. Car to be picked up within 14 days of the end of the auction. I'll have some other items posted for local pickup available to the high bidder at a fixed price. ITEMS IN RED ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE FINAL BID PRICE. Snowflake wheels Rust free hood Shaker Assembly White seats with nice backs T-Top interior trim I listed it this way to get the price down. Nice deal on a non-rusty 1978 REAL T/A. Obviously, this is a 32 year old restoration project. It's being sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. I have restored far worse than this car. It is a relatively easy project. It's worth far more than my opening bid of $750! The rear end, nose and T-Top roof are worth the opening bid! Good luck bidding!
