Cool truck from the past. This auction is for my 1978 Ford F150 Ranger 4x4. I purchased the truck in 1993 from a used car dealer in Greenville SC. I was told there was only one other owner. I drove the truck everyday until some time in 2005. I really love the truck and just moved and brought it 250 miles with the plans to fix it up and get it running and looking good. But I have decided to sell it now. It is a FULL Size 4x4 Ranger short bed. It has the original 351 modified that is a strong good running engine. It has a 4 speed in the floor with a granny gear for First and a manual 4x4 shifter in the floor. The transmission is in great shape as is the rear end and front in 4x4. This truck as been a great one in that it has hardly ever caused any major troubles. I have replaced the front wheel locks and the drive shaft yoke. Other than that there has only been the need for regular maintenence. It has two glass packs and the truck sounds great running. Here is what is wrong with it: The fuel tank has rusted through. It has wholes and was clogging fuel filters before I stopped driving it. There is something wrong with the brakes. They work well but you have to pull the pedel back up with your foot. I did this for years while driving it. I changed the master cylinder once but it did not make a difference. Someone has told me it is the brake booster. The brakes worked well when I parked it. It was just the pedel deal. The hearter core is busted. That happened sometime around 1998. I just bypassed it and keep going. It has a factor air conditioning. I had it charged once and it cooled well but then leaked down again and I never recharged it. I have no doubt the motor is in great shape as is the transmission and all the motor train. It also has POWER Steeringand POWER BRAKES OUTSIDE: The truck was slightly hit on the drivers rear before I got it. Because of the hit a tail light lens will not stay in. It also has some damage to the tail gate. It opens and closes well, but has some dents. The bed has a few finger size wholes that have rusted through. I used it for a truck. There are no other dents in the body. There is a part of the front grill that is missing. The only body rust is below the trim running down the body and a little in the rain channels on top. There is NO rusted wholes in the body. INSIDE: The seat is in great shape except on the corner of the drivers side. There is a whole that has been worn from getting in and out of the truck. There is a black dash cover that was on it when I got it and I have never taken it off. I have no idea what it is like under it. The over head is intacked but the red cover has come off. There is a hard part that is over head and in great shape. It seems they then put a red stick on cover. That is what has come off. The floors are solid, all knobs are there, speedo and gages all worked when I parked it. It has a sliding back glass window To the best of my knowldege it has 159616 miles on it. The truck was not burning any oil when I parked it. It was leaking a little at the valve covers which Ford trucks are famous for. It has 4 really good mud grip tires that have a lot of miles still in them. I have really enjoyed the truck so much and would like to keep it but I have 5 other vehicles I have to do something with. So old Red has to go. I have been as open and honest to the best of memory about the truck. I really believe with a gas tank and some brake work the truck would be road ready.
