Vehicle Detail

This listing if for a 1990 560 SEL S-Class Mercedes-Benz with 124K miles. This car has an 8-cylinder 5.6L engine, is RWD with an automatic transmission, moon roof, power everything, heated leather front and rear seats, and an aftermarket 10-disc CD changer and exhaust system. Being over 20 years old, the car isn't cosmetically perfect - there are a couple of small dents along the roofline, and a small spot of surface rust above the door trim on the driver's door. The interior is nearly immaculate, however, and has been a non-smoker's car it's whole life. The car runs and drives beautifully, and has always been a good highway runner for me. I have all of the original manuals, maintenance history, the original (never used) full sized spare tire, and even the original Mercedes-Benz toolkit! The only reason I am deciding to part with this car is to help pay off my student loan debt. There have been a few of owners prior to me, and they each left maintenance records with the car. During it's life it has had things like the A/C recharged, a new alternator, new batteries, and just general maintenance on the car. I myself have always run premium fuel (91 octane) in the car, just as the manual describes it best for the car. I purchased this vehicle about five years ago from local dealer, and have driven it since then. I have not, however, ever driven the car on the road during the Minnesota winters - I didn't want any road salt to get on the paint and the underbody of the car. During the winter I do start it regularly and drive it around my yard to ensure that the seals and gaskets don't rot. During the summer I drive the car daily to work, which is an hour or so - plenty of time for the oil to heat up well and do it's job. This car does not escape it's model's notorious aspect of using some oil. When I drive the car regularly, I need to put around a quart or so in each month. I reason that it is better for the car to use that oil, though, as this way I know it is getting up to the head and everywhere it needs to go. As for mechanical defects, the driver's side headlamp wiper-blade motor does not work, and the driver's side air induction hose became brittle (ergo the tape in the picture). Other than these fairly easy fixes, everything functions as it should. As for the cosmetic flaws, there are few. As I mentioned above, there is a small spot of surface rust in the driver's door (pictured), and a couple of small dents along the roofline. The paint on the hood has a few spots of sun damage, as the previous owner lived in Arizona and likely did not cover it very well. None of the flaws on the paint are very noticeable, and could be fixed relatively painlessly. The car still runs fantastic, and shifts very smoothly. I've heard on more than one occasion that these cars have no trouble reaching anywhere near the 500,000 mile mark before having major problems - a mark far from this car's current mileage. I have more (and larger resolution) pictures, and will be happy to send them and answer any questions you may have as well. The buyer will have to pick the car up or make arrangements for it to be shipped.
