Vehicle Detail

SOLD locally. Vehicle No longer available. Seldom found. A Well documented Mercedes WAGON from a Mercedes Club member since the 80's. For a 22 year old car, it's in well above average condition. It's not perfect though. We actually use the wagon. I've spent over $9K in parts and service since 2000. I planned to keep her. I'm assuming that you are a fan of the marque and can tell when a Benz is owned by a serious enthusiast. This metallic grey wagon has been in our family since 2000 and was my daily driver until I let my son use it at San Diego State for the past two years. A CA car with no rust- garaged most of its life. The car has made it from San Diego to the Bay Area and back many times. I have a full service log on the car. I meant to pass it on to my two other children for them to use in college. She has still plenty of pep, starts the first time and shifts well. She drives like a car much younger than her miles say. Sadly, I've found a van fits our family much better and I have other Benz's now. You will get a copy of the log and all the receipts. I have had just about all the major serivce work done and repaired that could go wrong with the car- especially the high dollar ones: New head gasket done (MBZ shop receipts) about 38k miles ago, Heater/ A/C blower replaced in 2006 by the dealer with brand new parts, F/R suspension repaired or replaced (even the expensive self-leveling rear suspension), newer radiator, EHA valve, water pump, power steering system, window regulators, window switches, just over 1k miles on 225/55/16 tires with chrome rims from my 300SL, both power seats work well, headliner is good shape, 3rd rear facing seat, MBTex upholstery in above average for its age, carpets in good shape with no funkyness, professional re-paint of hood only ($500+ with receipts). Other than the recent fender bender, no accidents while I've owned the car. Areas that could use some improving: A/C compressor needs to be replaced (the hot weather is almost over anyway), Sun roof (one of the arms needs to be repaired- no leaks), the engine mounts could be changed if you want the engine to feel like a new car, dash has some cracks, driver's seat seat bottom has a small area of cracking, transmission shifts smoothly but the front seal leaks (too expensive to repair by itself...most wait until it's time to replace the trans before repairing... leaks about 1/2 quart every 2k miles), like all Mercedes of this vintage, she leaks (not burns) oil... about 1 quart every 2-3K miles, every now and then the starter armature doesn't retract fully and will slightly contact the ring gear making a ringing sound. I recommend that a new/used/rebuilt starter be installed right away. If I was planning to keep her, I would spend the 30 mins to bolt on a used starter from a salvage yard that could be purchased, I'm told, for around $50. She got hit in the driver's rear about a few of months ago or so, but only the bumper mask was torn, the tail light broken and the lower corner of the tailgaite was dented. The power tailgate still works with no deformation to the inner sheet metal or rim. Benz's are tanks. The other car didn't even make it off of the freeway and had to be towed away. My son just drove home. While this would make an excellent parts car, I hope that it the next owner will use actually drive the car. She'll got plenty of life left. The rear mask is a bolt on as is the tail light. The dent to the tailgate is easily pulled out. Comes with: Blaupunkt stereo/CD, original full size spare, MBZ first aid kit, original jack, owner's manual, maintenance log, receipts, tool kit, extra keys. Legal stuff: Although a well documented CA car, at this price, this car is being sold AS-IS with no expressed or implied warranty. I recommend that the buyer perform their own extensive due dilligence prior to bidding. This car passed it's smog inspection in June (replaced Oxy sensor), but the buyer will be responsible for the smog certificate if needed. This car is also being advertised locally and may be sold before this listing has expired. All funds must clear my bank before I release the car and sign over the title. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the winning bid and is non-refundable. Serious buyers only. In good faith, I have done my best to describe all the details and defects about the car but I may have not been able to remember them all. I will add more details if I recall any more, as well as, add as many pictures as I can. The details of this listing may change without notice. Bid only when you have read and understand the whole listing and all the details. Ask questions before you bid. I may reject a bid or offer from a bidder with less than 97% positive feedback rating or less than 25 total feedbacks. If you have any doubts, contact me first before making an offer or bid. Unless prior arangements are made with me and I have agreed to it in writing, car must be picked up within 48 hours after funds have cleared or car will be donated to charity in th buyer's name the next day and no refund of monies paid will be made.
