Vehicle Detail

1967 Mustang Fastback GT - 289 'HiPo' V8 !!! Rock-solid Rotisserie Restoration 5 years ago - No Rust - Show Car (That can be driven anywhere) (Update: Car has been relisted after a bidder's financing/offer fell through. A reasonable offer takes this amazing car - but please don't bid if you don't have funds to pay.) This is a one-of-one, stunning, 1967 Wimbledon White Mustang Fastback GT ‘Tribute’ of the famed K-code 289 V8 (there were only 73 true original such K-code cars in 1967!). Designed to rev to 8,000 rpms, the 289 K-code is among the most sought-after motors among classic Mustangs. (271HP out of 289 ci at 8,000 rpms was pretty rare in 1967 – that’s why Shelby chose it for the famous GT 350!) This nasty white horse is built to put out 300HP+. The car turns heads (and can be heard with roar from those solid lifters) wherever it goes – fast. (It must have been something to see this car road racing with a 1967, 1968 or 1969 Camaro, Corvette, Cuda, Firebird or GTO.) ...They don’t get any more desirable than this: Classic 1967 Fastback (some consider the best) Mustang design! Striking Wimbledon White with painted Dark Aqua Shelby stripes to match the Aqua interior! Original Exterior Décor Group with GT equipment options added! Incredible high-reving 289 ‘HiPo’ performance with T-5 manual transmission! The car underwent a full-rotisserie restoration several years ago and has been well-maintained and garage kept ever since, with updated new Cragar chrome rims and tires. (Note: I also looking for a perfectly restored classic convertible. I may consider trades.) Here's a list that I keep of some of the rebuild below (over $50K invested): Restoration(all restoration/build was done to look period-correct): Original San Jose (R) build, and dry/solid west coast car; now garaged in TX Full rotisserie restoration a few years ago by prior owner (I purchased car in 2007) The body was disassembled and all components were stripped to bare metal straightened, primed (with red oxide and then an undercoating for added confidence to be driven) and repainted with RM high tech base coat-clear coat Wimbledon White paint with Shelby stripes in a Dark Aqua Blue (to match interior; a one-of-one awesome look) All rubber, door seals, window gaskets and felts were replaced, including trunk lid gasket A new Carlight windshield was installed. All stainless trim was buffed. Exterior chrome was replated or replaced with exec condition originals, including exterior door handles The fuel system is all new, including gas tank, sending unit, steel line from the tank to the engine bay and fuel pump. The entire interior was stripped and repainted New dash pad, dash trim, instrument bezels, door panels, New window regulators, cranks and door pulls were installed The heater was rebuilt with new heater core, plenum, gaskets and hoses The new seat covers and interior is a factory two-tone Aqua/Turquoise. New carpet was installed The car has a LeCarra GT-350 wood steering wheel, but also have a Turquoise wheel with car A new in dash AM/FM cassette radio and all new speakers were installed ‘GT’ Equipment Group Options and Updates: The car carries an original Exterior Décor Group designation, which included GT Fog Lamps, reverse hood scoops with turn-signal indicators, dual mirrors, wheel moldings and pop-open gas cap Correct GT letter badges and side stripes were added The original factory disc braking system in the car was rebuilt and new stainless lines were installed. The front calipers were rebuilt and stainless inserts were installed. A new master cylinder and new front rotors were installed The rear brakes are all rebuilt with new crumbs, cylinders and shoes The suspension was completely rebuilt. New 1" dropped springs front were installed and new better-than-GT 4.5 leaf springs were installed in the rear New upper and lower control arms were installed. New tie-rod ends, front and rear sway bars and idler arm was installed. New KYB gas shocks were installed A new Flaming River 16/1 GT-style quick ratio steering box was installed. The factory power steering system was rebuilt including hoses, control valve, slave cylinder and pump Rare 289 K-code ‘HiPo’ Tribute Rebuild: The original 289 2V, was replaced with a 289 4V motor that was rebuilt as a high-reving K-code ‘HiPo’ (only driven about 1,000 miles since rebuild) The engine is a 289 4bbl block that has been bored 30 over. The crank was turned 10 under. The block was boiled out shot preened and decked. New cam bearings were installed. The mains were line bored. The rotating system was balanced and blueprinted New HiPo heavy duty rods with ARP bolts were installed New HiPo-style flat top pistons with new rings were installed. All ARP bolts were used in the engine assembly The HiPo heads were decked and new hardened seats and guides were installed. The heads were ported at exhaust and intake. New 351 three angle valves were installed. New solid lifters, dual valve springs, push rods and rocker arms were installed. A new Crane 306HP mechanical lifter cam was installed. New two row roller timing chain was installed The intake is a Ford HiPo aluminum high-rise dual-plane intake HiPo 4-blade fan and billet aluminum under drive pulleys The carb is a new Holley 650 Street Avenger The ignition is a rebuilt Ford unit with Pertronix digital system, coil, and 8000 RPM rev limiter. The electrical system was rebuilt with new ignition and headlight switches New Powermaster 1-wire chrome 60A alternator and high torque mini starter The flywheel is a McCloud aluminum racing flywheel with dual friction clutch and wafer style pressure plate. The throw-out bearing is new. The bell housing is a McCloud scattershield The trans is a new heavy-duty Tremac 5-speed (better than the original 4-speed, but with the correct jenny–style shifter) The driveline is a new custom made aluminum driveshaft. Both u-joints are new. The rear end is a completely rebuilt Ford 9" 31 spline limited slip unit with 3.89 ratio. It has new ring and pinion, bearings, clutches, seals and bushings The exhaust consists of new Stainless Works 3" Tri-Y headers, 2.5" dual exhaust flowing through Magna flow mufflers and chrome tips. The car sounds awesome! The cooling system includes a new 4 row radiator, aluminum Flow Cooler high output water pump, new hoses with in line filter and belts CAR IS ALSO LISTED ELSEWHERE.
