Vehicle Detail
Hi, Thank you for viewing my listing. Two years ago, I purchased this car from the husband of my wifes co-worker---- under the assumption that I would fix it up for my then 15 year old daughter to drive. She said she wanted to drive a stick shift. Over the past 2 years, I have worked on this off and on. Meanwhile, my daughter turned 16--- we got her a Jeep --which she loves---and I am finally finishing this project. The original owner put the car into storage in 1982 and luckily stored it properly. The car just passed 65,000 original miles. Rightly or wrongly, I am including pictures of the car as found,Skinned, prepped and painted --so that the buyer knows there are no mysteries here. If I was buying a car--long distance---its what I would want to see. Needless to say, a bare metal re-spray w/ stripes is an expensive proposition. PPG base clear was used, w/ 2 rounds of wet sand/ buff. The stripes were painted instead of decal---and the lower stripes are decals. I have gone through and replaced all the usual things that a dead car needs to be brought back to life. Rather than typing it all out--I offer my ph # 1-321-631-5599 EST before 10 PM for any comments, discussion , or questions. Currently, the car starts right away, drives straight, stops straight , and looks awesome.Buck tag confirms Cobra heritage. I had posted a local CL ad-- and the one fellow that came and saw it said it looked better in person than the pics---I was surprised too hear that --as it is usually not the case w/ anything I see.......... So, after all this --- why sell ????? Firstly, my daughter is not interested in it---and frankly, she is better off in the Cherokee. Second, as w/ any project, its that last 5% of needs that tear your hair out......... and this project is no exception. The bugs remaining are electrical in nature.---------They are:: 1/ turn signal not canceling--- 2/ 2 bulb holders broke in rear tail light panel.I have not found a replacement.------3/ fuel gauge reads full-----despite replacing w/ a new sending unit.---4/ hooking up steering harness makes the heater blower run.-- 5/ water temp gauge not registering---6/ wipers part of same harness from steering column. -- 7/ A/C all there but have not even attempted to mess w/ it.---8/ cruise control in place--but no turn on switch in cockpit.--9/ wear in drivers seat. I have spent a small fortune on this project--- and probably should not have given the orphan nature of these type II's. But, I like it and it is likely the buyer will be the only one in town w/ one. I was advised early on the replace the V6 w/ a bigger motor etc--- but, I like them original..... especially if daughter was driving it. I wont be surprised if buyer elects to do that though. I have no idea if there will be any interest in this--- but I am offering it. Car is tagged, licensed and insured. Car offered in as is condition. Thank you, Jeff:: These next pics are as found -and during the process.:: On Oct-09-10 at 12:42:34 PDT, seller added the following information:
