Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1976 Triumph Bonneville 750 which I puchased a little over 3 years ago from a Colorado auto sales outlet. The bike had previously been in storage and was purchased with 8195 miles on its clock. Shortly after getting the bike, the speedo broke. I'd say, conservatively, that I clocked approx 200-250 miles with the broken speedo before I had Wes of Wes Scott Cycles fix it. Wes went over the bike thoroughly and also replaced the entire wiring harness, converted it over to electronic ignition, rebuilt the Amal carbs, put "proper" handlebars on it (the correct ones for the model year), and also some other minor things (grab rail, battery, turn signals, etc.). Attached you'll find photos of the receipts for the purchase as long as receipts for Wes' work. The following year, the bike was then shipped to New Jersey (where it currently resides). The Winters have been a little unforgiving and because of the seasons, it does not get used as much as it did in South Florida. As a direct result of this, it is really showing its age. Unfortunately, I do not have proper storage for it, so it lives outside under a cycle cover. Honestly, the bike does more sitting than anything else, and it could really use a good home where it will be loved properly and not be neglected. With that said... Mechanical condition: As you can plainly see from the photos, the bike will need new tires. Despite the dry rot, they do still hold air. It also has a little rust, now, which it didn't have prior to New Jersey. The previous owner tried respraying the tank a "flat" black. It really looks like Hell, and is crackling now. Wes recommended restoring the tank but had initially quoted me an approximate 6-week time frame (possibly longer). At the time, I used to ride the bike regularly so I opted not to have it done. The tank is fine, otherwise (no leaks or cracks and it's debris-free). The previous owner also did some hokey thing with the front pegs. He sawed them off and installed "fold away" pegs (possibly from a Kawasaki). There were issues with the exhaust system, when I first got it, and Wes recommended having it completely replaced. I instead installed 1-3/4" Cycle Shack pipes and Harley Davidson mufflers (stock for a Dyna, I believe), which I bored out, so they flow nicely and sound great. The bike starts pretty easily. "Tickle" the carbs and the bike usually fires up on the first or second kick, Although, the carbs could use some fine-tuning and resychronization. This is really only noticeable when cruising at a relatively low RPM, however. The tachometer drive blew-out one day going down the highway, so the drive mechanism needs to be replaced. The headlamp bucket has a small dent in it, which I've circled in one of the photos. The engine, itself, has started to leak oil, noticeably, as of late. I know they say all old Brit bikes leak oil, but I still think it needs some attention. I'm not sure if maybe some seals might have dry-rotted too, or if it's just in need of some new gaskets and retorquing. The rear brake may need replacing soon, or possibly just a proper bleeding will do, but it feels a bit spongy to me. The front brake functions just fine, but looks like the rotor might have some warpage to it (see photo). Front forks could also need to be "topped" up (they seem a little soft). Wes informed me that they are 2" over stock. I have tried to be as detailed as possible, with respect to the condition of this bike. So, please take the time to view all the pictures carefully. And, please feel free to contact me if you have any other concerns. The Small Print: This bike has a clear and clean FL title, and is being sold "AS IS" with NO WARRANTY, either expressed or implied. The Buyer is entirely responsible for arranging the shipping of this vehicle. Any and all shipping charges will be at the expense of the Buyer. Upon a successful winning bid, the Buyer will pay a non-refundable $500 Deposit payable through PayPal and due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance of the funds are due within 7 days. Failure to do so could jeopardize your Ebay standing! The balance of the funds may be paid in the form of a Cashier's Check (certified from US or Canadian bank) or money order, Cash (in person), Personal check (once cleared).
