Vehicle Detail
BASIC HISTORY: I bought this 1954 Olds in August of 1979 or 31 years ago. In 1988 we used it for our wedding car. From 1989 - 2005 went to alot of car shows and won close to 100 awards. The last 5 years it has spent most of the time in my garage. My wife and I have talked it over for the past year and have finally decided to sell it. As we just don't seem to have the time to enjoy it these days. The paint, chrome, seats and door panels were done in 1993. The 17 year old restoration still looks pretty good, but showing age here and there. This also has a working wonderbar radio. Has autronic eye or automatic headlight dimmer, not working. All lights inside and out work fine. I did put in a underdash cassette player as seen in the pictures for more music choices. Has both front and rear speakers that still sound good. This car has P/S, P/B and the 324 V8 Rocket Engine with 4 bbl Rochester carb. Has the factory hydro-matic transmission. Also has the fender skirts with mounting hardware not on the car right now. The exhaust system is in great condition. You should note that I put on a stainless steel exhaust crossover, so I would not ever have do that job again. The car runs good and seems the faster you go the smoother it rides. I took a picture of the 3 switches on the floor. The top one is to turn autronic eye on and off. The middle one is the normal dimmer switch. The bottom one changes the AM radio stations. NOTE: The last picture is from a car show about 8 years ago with the fender skirts on. Now for some things to be checked. The brakes should be looked at as they don't seem as good as they should. The gas tank sending unit gasket is getting bad and the gauge don't read right., But I have a new sending unit that is included with car, just needs to put on. Like most old cars has a few drips here and there. This also comes with the original owners manual and a1954 Oldsmobile Shop Manual. NOTE: THIS CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE IN THE LOCAL AREA , SO THIS AUCTION MAY END EARLY IF IT SELLS. We hope this car goes to a good home and someone who has more time to work on & enjoy it as we have for the past 31 years. *** Thanks for Looking & have a Great Day *** I should also say that the body is solid and there is no filler or bondo. The glass is all good and no cracks, just showing some age on the side windows. I did mount a temp gauge in the glove box. Even after I put on a new temp sending unit the original dash one never worked. The horn don't work due to a bad wire in steering column. It will work if you hook it up to a push button. I never used the horn so I was not to bothered by it. I think that pretty much covers everything.
